Though Public Mind is Nehemiah抯 first solo release, it is not Nehemiah抯 ~eL7=G@{  
debut on the music scene.  Raised in his father抯 church, Nehemiah has (s{%XB:K  
been performing music in one form or another for most of his life.   Af0E_  
Nehemiah had recorded his first song by the age of 12 and at the age of 15 a@,tf'Sr  
he headlined his first concert in his hometown of Portland, Oregon with S-yd-MtQp  
the proceeds going toward teenage victims of domestic violence.  It was xMhR;lKY  
after that concert that Nehemiah was convinced that he wanted to pursue gpr];lgS  
music professionally. D

This pursuit has had its ups and downs but each one of them has shaped miHW1h[=  
who Nehemiah is today, both as an artist and as a person.  The highlights Z/uRz]Hi  
of Nehemiah抯 early career included an appearance in the motion picture S,S_BB<Y[b  
Reggie抯 Prayer, starring the late football star Reggie White.  In L*h X_8J  
addition, Nehemiah appeared on a nationally syndicated talk show, took 1xq1te)  
his live show to Canada, and opened up for the famed R&B/Gospel group, Yjk A^e  
Virtue.  The experiences of his teenage years opened the door for }.zgVLL  
Nehemiah to later join Soul, a contemporary gospel group signed to a o<P%|>qX  
subsidiary of the Hendrix record label.  This release spent 9 weeks on L +.K}w  
the Billboard gospel charts and peeked at number 36.  Though the group G68N@g  
was short-lived it provided Nehemiah the opportunity to tour the states h/(9AO}t  
and establish relationships that would bear fruit in the years to come. 3[aJ=5

After briefly filling the lead vocalist spot in a group with producer HR x_Ais&Gc  
Crump (Beyonce), Nehemiah decided to focus on developing his solo project.   Punbw\9!d,  
His debut solo album, Public Mind, is the product of all of his life PD/JXExK  
experiences, both good and bad.  The mid-tempo track 揟hat Person?is a fBd +gT\S  
celebratory autobiographical account of all that happened to Nehemiah as TJsT .DWW~  
he recognized all that Jesus Christ is.  Another personal song, 揊ly Away,? 9f,HjR
P  
was written for his daughter, Amiah, who died several weeks after being E4y"$U%.  
born.  It is songs like these that helped the album find its title.   ! 2Y, a  
Nehemiah explains, 揟he title of the album is intended to communicate on l/rhA6kEU  
two levels.  First, I wanted to emphasize that I identify with my audience.

Nehemiah lists artists ranging from Commissioned to Boyz II Men to Phil qo. 6T  
Collins among his influences and the diversity of his personal palate comes p-(Z[G*  
through in the diversity of the album.  Nehemiah wrote and produced much of /{kyjf[o&*  
the disc himself while also teaming with producers and songwriters Derek *=|i"
 
Clark (Fred Hammond), Anson Dawkins (Dawkins & Dawkins), Chris Turner Yaa M-o  
(Singleton抯), Cole Brown (Michelle Williams) and his brother J.B. q75F^AvH  
(Benjiman).  The production and vocals on the project are top notch, there 1@nR.v"$  
is nothing about Nehemiah抯 debut that sounds like the independent project p6HZ2Q:a  
it truly is.  But while people will definitely respond to the impressive ?pF;{  
vocals and banging tracks Nehemiah hopes they will especially be drawn to \ I?;%  
the stories.  揝ome of these songs are birthed out of experiences I抳e x(=kh%\;  
lived and some of them were born out of the experiences of my community.   ap6Vmp  
Not all people will be able to relate to the exact details of every song but fnmZJJ,Q  
I believe everyone will find themselves somewhere in each song.  Each of LiB0]+wzj  
them speaks of something true and real that we can all identify with.  I m1[QD26
