Though Public Mind is Nehemiah抯 first solo release, it is not Nehemiah抯 fl+2'~  
debut on the music scene.  Raised in his father抯 church, Nehemiah has Xcb'qU!2-^  
been performing music in one form or another for most of his life.   qa,i:T(w  
Nehemiah had recorded his first song by the age of 12 and at the age of 15 y

he headlined his first concert in his hometown of Portland, Oregon with 5OC{_-  
the proceeds going toward teenage victims of domestic violence.  It was uF\ ;m.  
after that concert that Nehemiah was convinced that he wanted to pursue >dfk2.6e

This pursuit has had its ups and downs but each one of them has shaped vt(cC))  
who Nehemiah is today, both as an artist and as a person.  The highlights )|B3TjHC  
of Nehemiah抯 early career included an appearance in the motion picture ~y>NJM>1  
Reggie抯 Prayer, starring the late football star Reggie White.  In lr9s`>9  
addition, Nehemiah appeared on a nationally syndicated talk show, took bj_oA i  
his live show to Canada, and opened up for the famed R&B/Gospel group, -5GRit1q?  
Virtue.  The experiences of his teenage years opened the door for |g!3f  
Nehemiah to later join Soul, a contemporary gospel group signed to a wY*tq{7  
subsidiary of the Hendrix record label.  This release spent 9 weeks on -op(26:W<  
the Billboard gospel charts and peeked at number 36.  Though the group B8NMo5a  
was short-lived it provided Nehemiah the opportunity to tour the states 1Wb_>`;  
and establish relationships that would bear fruit in the years to come. frUO+

After briefly filling the lead vocalist spot in a group with producer HR d7qYz7=d  
Crump (Beyonce), Nehemiah decided to focus on developing his solo project.   LIfYpn6  
His debut solo album, Public Mind, is the product of all of his life M5c~-}Ay  
experiences, both good and bad.  The mid-tempo track 揟hat Person?is a BL H~`N3U  
celebratory autobiographical account of all that happened to Nehemiah as N.?)s.D(  
he recognized all that Jesus Christ is.  Another personal song, 揊ly Away,? Kq;s${ |G  
was written for his daughter, Amiah, who died several weeks after being M`tNY
s]V  
born.  It is songs like these that helped the album find its title.   ~ }?*v}  
Nehemiah explains, 揟he title of the album is intended to communicate on b9TsuY  
two levels.  First, I wanted to emphasize that I identify with my audience.   X*e<g=  
The things that they struggle with, I struggle with.  The things that 52q<|MW%  
trouble them, trouble me.  Second, I wanted to show that this album is not %OAvhutS  
simply a collection of songs, it is a window into my mind and life which I #9(L/)^

Nehemiah lists artists ranging from Commissioned to Boyz II Men to Phil -gVsOX0  
Collins among his influences and the diversity of his personal palate comes 1[40\sM  
through in the diversity of the album.  Nehemiah wrote and produced much of um*!+Q  
the disc himself while also teaming with producers and songwriters Derek 'ARbJ1a  
Clark (Fred Hammond), Anson Dawkins (Dawkins & Dawkins), Chris Turner L<Q>:U.@\  
(Singleton抯), Cole Brown (Michelle Williams) and his brother J.B. nP#|JRn=  
(Benjiman).  The production and vocals on the project are top notch, there agj_l}=gO  
is nothing about Nehemiah抯 debut that sounds like the independent project 6 B*,Mu4A  
it truly is.  But while people will definitely respond to the impressive eWWfUNBSLX  
vocals and banging tracks Nehemiah hopes they will especially be drawn to cCO2w2A[*  
the stories.  揝ome of these songs are birthed out of experiences I抳e t>JPK_b0  
lived and some of them were born out of the experiences of my community.   D ]G=sYt  
Not all people will be able to relate to the exact details of every song but @=dwvl' W  
I believe everyone will find themselves somewhere in each song.  Each of H,0Io  
them speaks of something true and real that we can all identify with.  I }N0v_Nas;v
