Though Public Mind is Nehemiah抯 first solo release, it is not Nehemiah抯 *l_a=[<[  
debut on the music scene.  Raised in his father抯 church, Nehemiah has '}hSh  
been performing music in one form or another for most of his life.   \RDN_Z  
Nehemiah had recorded his first song by the age of 12 and at the age of 15 u3h(EAH>  
he headlined his first concert in his hometown of Portland, Oregon with g0,~|.  
the proceeds going toward teenage victims of domestic violence.  It was ,cxqr3 o  
after that concert that Nehemiah was convinced that he wanted to pursue (qAF2&  
music professionally. db )2>

This pursuit has had its ups and downs but each one of them has shaped 6qZQ20h  
who Nehemiah is today, both as an artist and as a person.  The highlights \]

of Nehemiah抯 early career included an appearance in the motion picture 3!P^?[p3  
Reggie抯 Prayer, starring the late football star Reggie White.  In e9p/y8gC  
addition, Nehemiah appeared on a nationally syndicated talk show, took x^y$pr  
his live show to Canada, and opened up for the famed R&B/Gospel group, RRO@r}A!y  
Virtue.  The experiences of his teenage years opened the door for 01n!T2;yW}  
Nehemiah to later join Soul, a contemporary gospel group signed to a D^r g-E[L  
subsidiary of the Hendrix record label.  This release spent 9 weeks on Z!v,;MW  
the Billboard gospel charts and peeked at number 36.  Though the group @[^ 3yC#  
was short-lived it provided Nehemiah the opportunity to tour the states e
u(Fhs   
and establish relationships that would bear fruit in the years to come. ]5'*^rz ^

After briefly filling the lead vocalist spot in a group with producer HR =-dnniKW4  
Crump (Beyonce), Nehemiah decided to focus on developing his solo project.   =]@Bc 7@  
His debut solo album, Public Mind, is the product of all of his life Zr}>>aIJ]k  
experiences, both good and bad.  The mid-tempo track 揟hat Person?is a amsl>wc!  
celebratory autobiographical account of all that happened to Nehemiah as UN?tn}`!  
he recognized all that Jesus Christ is.  Another personal song, 揊ly Away,? D4$b-?y  
was written for his daughter, Amiah, who died several weeks after being Z_ElLY  
born.  It is songs like these that helped the album find its title.   \%r#>8c8  
Nehemiah explains, 揟he title of the album is intended to communicate on r'i99~  
two levels.  First, I wanted to emphasize that I identify with my audience.   /M5.Z~|/  
The things that they struggle with, I struggle with.  The things that &OU.BR>  
trouble them, trouble me.  Second, I wanted to show that this album is not -l=C7e  
simply a collection of songs, it is a window into my mind and life which I %jAc8~vW?  
have made public through this release.?      U#f*

Nehemiah lists artists ranging from Commissioned to Boyz II Men to Phil L`t786 (M  
Collins among his influences and the diversity of his personal palate comes dOD(<  
through in the diversity of the album.  Nehemiah wrote and produced much of lr&2,p<  
the disc himself while also teaming with producers and songwriters Derek AG >D,6Y  
Clark (Fred Hammond), Anson Dawkins (Dawkins & Dawkins), Chris Turner tN{0C/B9  
(Singleton抯), Cole Brown (Michelle Williams) and his brother J.B. X0*+]tRg  
(Benjiman).  The production and vocals on the project are top notch, there ca
=MUm=B  
is nothing about Nehemiah抯 debut that sounds like the independent project hTBJ
\1 -  
it truly is.  But while people will definitely respond to the impressive ]Jz=.F sO  
vocals and banging tracks Nehemiah hopes they will especially be drawn to ` k] TOc  
the stories.  揝ome of these songs are birthed out of experiences I抳e [)`*k#.=  
lived and some of them were born out of the experiences of my community.   yK{P%oh)  
Not all people will be able to relate to the exact details of every song but 8mr fs%_  
I believe everyone will find themselves somewhere in each song.  Each of X}[1Y3~y  
them speaks of something true and real that we can all identify with.  I
