Though Public Mind is Nehemiah抯 first solo release, it is not Nehemiah抯 *=L3bBu?  
debut on the music scene.  Raised in his father抯 church, Nehemiah has E%\iNU!  
been performing music in one form or another for most of his life.   ZLdvzH@'  
Nehemiah had recorded his first song by the age of 12 and at the age of 15 cgsM]2ZYs  
he headlined his first concert in his hometown of Portland, Oregon with -@%*~^~z'  
the proceeds going toward teenage victims of domestic violence.  It was |KF X0*70  
after that concert that Nehemiah was convinced that he wanted to pursue 'v4#mf  
music professionally. m~9Qx`fi`

This pursuit has had its ups and downs but each one of them has shaped m~~_iz_*  
who Nehemiah is today, both as an artist and as a person.  The highlights `rC9i5:  
of Nehemiah抯 early career included an appearance in the motion picture BQv+9(:fQB  
Reggie抯 Prayer, starring the late football star Reggie White.  In FG7}MUu  
addition, Nehemiah appeared on a nationally syndicated talk show, took |,bsMJh0  
his live show to Canada, and opened up for the famed R&B/Gospel group, _`WbR&d2Id  
Virtue.  The experiences of his teenage years opened the door for * B,D#;6  
Nehemiah to later join Soul, a contemporary gospel group signed to a fGJ
PZe  
subsidiary of the Hendrix record label.  This release spent 9 weeks on k oo`JHC  
the Billboard gospel charts and peeked at number 36.  Though the group 3ik  
was short-lived it provided Nehemiah the opportunity to tour the states )J8dm'wH92  
and establish relationships that would bear fruit in the years to come. i8I%}8

After briefly filling the lead vocalist spot in a group with producer HR IC+Z C   
Crump (Beyonce), Nehemiah decided to focus on developing his solo project.   KzZ! CB\  
His debut solo album, Public Mind, is the product of all of his life >2`)S{pBD  
experiences, both good and bad.  The mid-tempo track 揟hat Person?is a !*.mcIQT  
celebratory autobiographical account of all that happened to Nehemiah as Zo`'xg  
he recognized all that Jesus Christ is.  Another personal song, 揊ly Away,? &R/)#NAp  
was written for his daughter, Amiah, who died several weeks after being ,#&lNQ'I  
born.  It is songs like these that helped the album find its title.   \`o+Le+%  
Nehemiah explains, 揟he title of the album is intended to communicate on &|u  
two levels.  First, I wanted to emphasize that I identify with my audience.   OA2<jrGB!  
The things that they struggle with, I struggle with.  The things that } ab@Nd$  
trouble them, trouble me.  Second, I wanted to show that this album is not PygT_-3z{  
simply a collection of songs, it is a window into my mind and life which I $78fR8|r-

Nehemiah lists artists ranging from Commissioned to Boyz II Men to Phil `pzp(\lc  
Collins among his influences and the diversity of his personal palate comes e0"R7a  
through in the diversity of the album.  Nehemiah wrote and produced much of tfj6#{M5  
the disc himself while also teaming with producers and songwriters Derek i$)bZr\  
Clark (Fred Hammond), Anson Dawkins (Dawkins & Dawkins), Chris Turner &^4\

(Singleton抯), Cole Brown (Michelle Williams) and his brother J.B. L5""  
(Benjiman).  The production and vocals on the project are top notch, there Kxz<f>`b/  
is nothing about Nehemiah抯 debut that sounds like the independent project 7*y_~H  
it truly is.  But while people will definitely respond to the impressive +T=Z!2L  
vocals and banging tracks Nehemiah hopes they will especially be drawn to q2 D2:0^2  
the stories.  揝ome of these songs are birthed out of experiences I抳e @HJ&"72$<  
lived and some of them were born out of the experiences of my community.   jdQ`Y+BC  
Not all people will be able to relate to the exact details of every song but -,Cx|Nl  
I believe everyone will find themselves somewhere in each song.  Each of 9_[TYzpB!  
them speaks of something true and real that we can all identify with.  I 5+b[-Daz
