Though Public Mind is Nehemiah抯 first solo release, it is not Nehemiah抯 .H*? '*  
debut on the music scene.  Raised in his father抯 church, Nehemiah has Pl`Bd0  
been performing music in one form or another for most of his life.   W$x K^}  
Nehemiah had recorded his first song by the age of 12 and at the age of 15 s>[vT?  
he headlined his first concert in his hometown of Portland, Oregon with >KH(nc$  
the proceeds going toward teenage victims of domestic violence.  It was $Qx(aWE0  
after that concert that Nehemiah was convinced that he wanted to pursue M%nZu{  
music professionally. V}3~7(

This pursuit has had its ups and downs but each one of them has shaped b}"vIRz  
who Nehemiah is today, both as an artist and as a person.  The highlights XFLjVrX[  
of Nehemiah抯 early career included an appearance in the motion picture :Kt{t46)  
Reggie抯 Prayer, starring the late football star Reggie White.  In *<#]&2I  
addition, Nehemiah appeared on a nationally syndicated talk show, took L%=BCmMx  
his live show to Canada, and opened up for the famed R&B/Gospel group, ?dATMmT-  
Virtue.  The experiences of his teenage years opened the door for NK*:w *SOI  
Nehemiah to later join Soul, a contemporary gospel group signed to a 3RY|l?n>  
subsidiary of the Hendrix record label.  This release spent 9 weeks on J:M<9
W  
the Billboard gospel charts and peeked at number 36.  Though the group U O{xpY  
was short-lived it provided Nehemiah the opportunity to tour the states d1C/u@8^  
and establish relationships that would bear fruit in the years to come. )

After briefly filling the lead vocalist spot in a group with producer HR \, X?K  
Crump (Beyonce), Nehemiah decided to focus on developing his solo project.   OP\^c  
His debut solo album, Public Mind, is the product of all of his life O~c+$(  
experiences, both good and bad.  The mid-tempo track 揟hat Person?is a tPMgZ  
celebratory autobiographical account of all that happened to Nehemiah as r;5 AY  
he recognized all that Jesus Christ is.  Another personal song, 揊ly Away,? ]VO,} `  
was written for his daughter, Amiah, who died several weeks after being \Ho#[k=y*/  
born.  It is songs like these that helped the album find its title.   .1l[

Nehemiah explains, 揟he title of the album is intended to communicate on j

two levels.  First, I wanted to emphasize that I identify with my audience.   =qVAvo'  
The things that they struggle with, I struggle with.  The things that 3oNt]2w/'  
trouble them, trouble me.  Second, I wanted to show that this album is not bN<

simply a collection of songs, it is a window into my mind and life which I ,sy/rV

Nehemiah lists artists ranging from Commissioned to Boyz II Men to Phil 8tB{rK,  
Collins among his influences and the diversity of his personal palate comes NR@SDW  
through in the diversity of the album.  Nehemiah wrote and produced much of f(zuRM^5  
the disc himself while also teaming with producers and songwriters Derek >ZOZv  
Clark (Fred Hammond), Anson Dawkins (Dawkins & Dawkins), Chris Turner iIC9rso"Q1  
(Singleton抯), Cole Brown (Michelle Williams) and his brother J.B. U iPVZ@?  
(Benjiman).  The production and vocals on the project are top notch, there ).@)t:uNa  
is nothing about Nehemiah抯 debut that sounds like the independent project !*$'fn'bAA  
it truly is.  But while people will definitely respond to the impressive |x}&wFV  
vocals and banging tracks Nehemiah hopes they will especially be drawn to eQ4B5B%j/x  
the stories.  揝ome of these songs are birthed out of experiences I抳e \t7zMp  
lived and some of them were born out of the experiences of my community.   r.W"@vc>  
Not all people will be able to relate to the exact details of every song but Jg?pW:}R  
I believe everyone will find themselves somewhere in each song.  Each of %'p|JS  
them speaks of something true and real that we can all identify with.  I Sd/d [
