Though Public Mind is Nehemiah抯 first solo release, it is not Nehemiah抯 p-zLi!  
debut on the music scene.  Raised in his father抯 church, Nehemiah has kw1PIuz4&  
been performing music in one form or another for most of his life.   < FN[{YsA  
Nehemiah had recorded his first song by the age of 12 and at the age of 15 ! .!qJ%  
he headlined his first concert in his hometown of Portland, Oregon with C96|T>bk  
the proceeds going toward teenage victims of domestic violence.  It was

after that concert that Nehemiah was convinced that he wanted to pursue Q=>@:1=

This pursuit has had its ups and downs but each one of them has shaped f? ko%c_p  
who Nehemiah is today, both as an artist and as a person.  The highlights \|wVIi  
of Nehemiah抯 early career included an appearance in the motion picture  \

Reggie抯 Prayer, starring the late football star Reggie White.  In KuFDkT!  
addition, Nehemiah appeared on a nationally syndicated talk show, took e;[/ytz"d'  
his live show to Canada, and opened up for the famed R&B/Gospel group, 44b'40  
Virtue.  The experiences of his teenage years opened the door for +[D=2&tmk  
Nehemiah to later join Soul, a contemporary gospel group signed to a /FB'  
subsidiary of the Hendrix record label.  This release spent 9 weeks on w~1K93/p!  
the Billboard gospel charts and peeked at number 36.  Though the group LN_6>u  
was short-lived it provided Nehemiah the opportunity to tour the states dD!} P$
 
and establish relationships that would bear fruit in the years to come. |\elM[G"g

After briefly filling the lead vocalist spot in a group with producer HR 9jJ&QACn  
Crump (Beyonce), Nehemiah decided to focus on developing his solo project.   DJ=miJI'  
His debut solo album, Public Mind, is the product of all of his life HO$s&}t  
experiences, both good and bad.  The mid-tempo track 揟hat Person?is a 191O(
H  
celebratory autobiographical account of all that happened to Nehemiah as 3hb1^HNT  
he recognized all that Jesus Christ is.  Another personal song, 揊ly Away,? k>2 xm  
was written for his daughter, Amiah, who died several weeks after being w^P4_Yr  
born.  It is songs like these that helped the album find its title.   $|sRj!F  
Nehemiah explains, 揟he title of the album is intended to communicate on "-N%`UA  
two levels.  First, I wanted to emphasize that I identify with my audience.   'w!Hjq]$  
The things that they struggle with, I struggle with.  The things that O/0m|~`iY  
trouble them, trouble me.  Second, I wanted to show that this album is not g$$uf[A-SL  
simply a collection of songs, it is a window into my mind and life which I 4Mnne'7

Nehemiah lists artists ranging from Commissioned to Boyz II Men to Phil Rl$NiY?2  
Collins among his influences and the diversity of his personal palate comes lSQANC'  
through in the diversity of the album.  Nehemiah wrote and produced much of ']4sx_)S  
the disc himself while also teaming with producers and songwriters Derek {TlS)i`  
Clark (Fred Hammond), Anson Dawkins (Dawkins & Dawkins), Chris Turner qhiQ!fMQ  
(Singleton抯), Cole Brown (Michelle Williams) and his brother J.B. V#5BZU-  
(Benjiman).  The production and vocals on the project are top notch, there ~Kt.%K5lgt  
is nothing about Nehemiah抯 debut that sounds like the independent project }vp\lKP  
it truly is.  But while people will definitely respond to the impressive <7u*OYjA  
vocals and banging tracks Nehemiah hopes they will especially be drawn to _ @ \  
the stories.  揝ome of these songs are birthed out of experiences I抳e !^B`7  
lived and some of them were born out of the experiences of my community.   ]cFqKs  
Not all people will be able to relate to the exact details of every song but RqH"+/wR  
I believe everyone will find themselves somewhere in each song.  Each of e7 5*84  
them speaks of something true and real that we can all identify with.  I "y>l2V,4j%
