Though Public Mind is Nehemiah抯 first solo release, it is not Nehemiah抯 _k\*4K8L  
debut on the music scene.  Raised in his father抯 church, Nehemiah has T6=c9f?7  
been performing music in one form or another for most of his life.   vDV`!JU  
Nehemiah had recorded his first song by the age of 12 and at the age of 15 B# |w}hj  
he headlined his first concert in his hometown of Portland, Oregon with 7Y&W^]UZ0t  
the proceeds going toward teenage victims of domestic violence.  It was i;s&;_0{  
after that concert that Nehemiah was convinced that he wanted to pursue DxdiXf[j  
music professionally. >2x[ub%$L

This pursuit has had its ups and downs but each one of them has shaped skh6L!6*<  
who Nehemiah is today, both as an artist and as a person.  The highlights &?"(al?  
of Nehemiah抯 early career included an appearance in the motion picture = 7d{lK  
Reggie抯 Prayer, starring the late football star Reggie White.  In p[4KN(PyK  
addition, Nehemiah appeared on a nationally syndicated talk show, took SQDllG84E  
his live show to Canada, and opened up for the famed R&B/Gospel group, hD/bgquT  
Virtue.  The experiences of his teenage years opened the door for 0.'$U}#b  
Nehemiah to later join Soul, a contemporary gospel group signed to a !o+#T==p  
subsidiary of the Hendrix record label.  This release spent 9 weeks on -GLI$_lLF  
the Billboard gospel charts and peeked at number 36.  Though the group 7;:R\d6iL  
was short-lived it provided Nehemiah the opportunity to tour the states gtHWd;1&f  
and establish relationships that would bear fruit in the years to come. |Gx-c ,{{

After briefly filling the lead vocalist spot in a group with producer HR F"FGPk  
Crump (Beyonce), Nehemiah decided to focus on developing his solo project.   2 DJs'"8  
His debut solo album, Public Mind, is the product of all of his life

experiences, both good and bad.  The mid-tempo track 揟hat Person?is a +)k%jIi!  
celebratory autobiographical account of all that happened to Nehemiah as }dQW-U  
he recognized all that Jesus Christ is.  Another personal song, 揊ly Away,? @d:TAwOI'  
was written for his daughter, Amiah, who died several weeks after being g VX  
born.  It is songs like these that helped the album find its title.   es 8%JTi  
Nehemiah explains, 揟he title of the album is intended to communicate on qF C0$:z&  
two levels.  First, I wanted to emphasize that I identify with my audience.   ;9PJ K5>~  
The things that they struggle with, I struggle with.  The things that 0"o%=i;  
trouble them, trouble me.  Second, I wanted to show that this album is not kG@~;*;l  
simply a collection of songs, it is a window into my mind and life which I LG0+A}E=C

Nehemiah lists artists ranging from Commissioned to Boyz II Men to Phil h)fJ2]JW8W  
Collins among his influences and the diversity of his personal palate comes :c[iS~ ~Y  
through in the diversity of the album.  Nehemiah wrote and produced much of U2m86@E  
the disc himself while also teaming with producers and songwriters Derek i}"Eu< P  
Clark (Fred Hammond), Anson Dawkins (Dawkins & Dawkins), Chris Turner %"B+;{y(5  
(Singleton抯), Cole Brown (Michelle Williams) and his brother J.B. LlOUK2tZ  
(Benjiman).  The production and vocals on the project are top notch, there qIIc>By(\"  
is nothing about Nehemiah抯 debut that sounds like the independent project Mhp6,JL  
it truly is.  But while people will definitely respond to the impressive ,j\1UAa  
vocals and banging tracks Nehemiah hopes they will especially be drawn to wXI6KN-  
the stories.  揝ome of these songs are birthed out of experiences I抳e ^h #0e:7<

Not all people will be able to relate to the exact details of every song but u}Kc
