Though Public Mind is Nehemiah抯 first solo release, it is not Nehemiah抯 nLiY%x`S  
debut on the music scene.  Raised in his father抯 church, Nehemiah has `g})|Gx  
been performing music in one form or another for most of his life.   @vB!u[{  
Nehemiah had recorded his first song by the age of 12 and at the age of 15 39|MX21k  
he headlined his first concert in his hometown of Portland, Oregon with &I406Z f7y  
the proceeds going toward teenage victims of domestic violence.  It was Tqk\XILG N  
after that concert that Nehemiah was convinced that he wanted to pursue iyp=lLk

This pursuit has had its ups and downs but each one of them has shaped LDg?'y;2  
who Nehemiah is today, both as an artist and as a person.  The highlights LrK,_)r:~  
of Nehemiah抯 early career included an appearance in the motion picture J'2X&2  
Reggie抯 Prayer, starring the late football star Reggie White.  In 6DWgl$[[  
addition, Nehemiah appeared on a nationally syndicated talk show, took [h:T*(R?  
his live show to Canada, and opened up for the famed R&B/Gospel group, ]d%8k}U  
Virtue.  The experiences of his teenage years opened the door for eN~=*Mn(za  
Nehemiah to later join Soul, a contemporary gospel group signed to a 3{h_&Gbo'D  
subsidiary of the Hendrix record label.  This release spent 9 weeks on !L8#@BjU  
the Billboard gospel charts and peeked at number 36.  Though the group (b6NX~G-:  
was short-lived it provided Nehemiah the opportunity to tour the states +KEWP\r  
and establish relationships that would bear fruit in the years to come. )tpL#J

After briefly filling the lead vocalist spot in a group with producer HR QVE6We  
Crump (Beyonce), Nehemiah decided to focus on developing his solo project.   nQ L@hc  
His debut solo album, Public Mind, is the product of all of his life 3Le{\}-$.  
experiences, both good and bad.  The mid-tempo track 揟hat Person?is a XGMiW0j0B  
celebratory autobiographical account of all that happened to Nehemiah as -S+zmo8  
he recognized all that Jesus Christ is.  Another personal song, 揊ly Away,? {u9}bx'<  
was written for his daughter, Amiah, who died several weeks after being D1mfm.9_r^  
born.  It is songs like these that helped the album find its title.   p[lA\@l[  
Nehemiah explains, 揟he title of the album is intended to communicate on GDy9qUV  
two levels.  First, I wanted to emphasize that I identify with my audience.   kM@zyDn,  
The things that they struggle with, I struggle with.  The things that zA"`!}*  
trouble them, trouble me.  Second, I wanted to show that this album is not i2^>vYCsl  
simply a collection of songs, it is a window into my mind and life which I Y]5l.SV

Nehemiah lists artists ranging from Commissioned to Boyz II Men to Phil +&"zU GTIc  
Collins among his influences and the diversity of his personal palate comes }-3mPy(*%  
through in the diversity of the album.  Nehemiah wrote and produced much of Uv~QUL3>  
the disc himself while also teaming with producers and songwriters Derek c{LO6dNg\z  
Clark (Fred Hammond), Anson Dawkins (Dawkins & Dawkins), Chris Turner |B2+{@R  
(Singleton抯), Cole Brown (Michelle Williams) and his brother J.B. PJ'E/C)i  
(Benjiman).  The production and vocals on the project are top notch, there CsifKHI  
is nothing about Nehemiah抯 debut that sounds like the independent project ;

it truly is.  But while people will definitely respond to the impressive %9RF  
vocals and banging tracks Nehemiah hopes they will especially be drawn to !#"zTj  
the stories.  揝ome of these songs are birthed out of experiences I抳e PAOJ\U  
lived and some of them were born out of the experiences of my community.   SC])?h-Fw  
Not all people will be able to relate to the exact details of every song but 9!DQ~k%  
I believe everyone will find themselves somewhere in each song.  Each of V,?yPi$#E  
them speaks of something true and real that we can all identify with.  I -FlzEZ
