Though Public Mind is Nehemiah抯 first solo release, it is not Nehemiah抯 ?m+];SJk  
debut on the music scene.  Raised in his father抯 church, Nehemiah has mXS"nd30bD  
been performing music in one form or another for most of his life.   ~wF3$H.@;  
Nehemiah had recorded his first song by the age of 12 and at the age of 15 +> d;%K  
he headlined his first concert in his hometown of Portland, Oregon with >8x)\'w  
the proceeds going toward teenage victims of domestic violence.  It was 4mKH |\g  
after that concert that Nehemiah was convinced that he wanted to pursue SSTn|

This pursuit has had its ups and downs but each one of them has shaped `p1B58deC  
who Nehemiah is today, both as an artist and as a person.  The highlights l'

of Nehemiah抯 early career included an appearance in the motion picture tN_=&|{WE4  
Reggie抯 Prayer, starring the late football star Reggie White.  In 2y|n!p T  
addition, Nehemiah appeared on a nationally syndicated talk show, took W}"tf L8  
his live show to Canada, and opened up for the famed R&B/Gospel group, y\(xYB>T  
Virtue.  The experiences of his teenage years opened the door for @GGQ13Cj(  
Nehemiah to later join Soul, a contemporary gospel group signed to a `IJ)'$pn  
subsidiary of the Hendrix record label.  This release spent 9 weeks on G@Sqg  
the Billboard gospel charts and peeked at number 36.  Though the group Z!Z{Gm3  
was short-lived it provided Nehemiah the opportunity to tour the states a(*"r:/lD  
and establish relationships that would bear fruit in the years to come. MxUbx+_N

After briefly filling the lead vocalist spot in a group with producer HR m#G,m  
Crump (Beyonce), Nehemiah decided to focus on developing his solo project.   ssS"X@VZ \  
His debut solo album, Public Mind, is the product of all of his life BOR$R}q  
experiences, both good and bad.  The mid-tempo track 揟hat Person?is a g kV`ZT9  
celebratory autobiographical account of all that happened to Nehemiah as K"|~D0Qgo  
he recognized all that Jesus Christ is.  Another personal song, 揊ly Away,? #_`p 0wY  
was written for his daughter, Amiah, who died several weeks after being fAz4>_4  
born.  It is songs like these that helped the album find its title.   NFtA2EMLu[  
Nehemiah explains, 揟he title of the album is intended to communicate on MK@rx6<9  
two levels.  First, I wanted to emphasize that I identify with my audience.   `HnZ{PKf  
The things that they struggle with, I struggle with.  The things that 6uKth mr  
trouble them, trouble me.  Second, I wanted to show that this album is not (d@(QJ  
simply a collection of songs, it is a window into my mind and life which I :?LNP3}

Nehemiah lists artists ranging from Commissioned to Boyz II Men to Phil t#8QyN  
Collins among his influences and the diversity of his personal palate comes ~3%\8,0  
through in the diversity of the album.  Nehemiah wrote and produced much of 4}t&yu<P>  
the disc himself while also teaming with producers and songwriters Derek 1Y;.fZE  
Clark (Fred Hammond), Anson Dawkins (Dawkins & Dawkins), Chris Turner KKb7dZbt<  
(Singleton抯), Cole Brown (Michelle Williams) and his brother J.B. DfU= i'R  
(Benjiman).  The production and vocals on the project are top notch, there !fd>wvJ,:  
is nothing about Nehemiah抯 debut that sounds like the independent project 0VNpd~G$  
it truly is.  But while people will definitely respond to the impressive gR gB= C{  
vocals and banging tracks Nehemiah hopes they will especially be drawn to #8 ^b]  
the stories.  揝ome of these songs are birthed out of experiences I抳e 7HY8 F5Brx  
lived and some of them were born out of the experiences of my community.   w|6?A-  
Not all people will be able to relate to the exact details of every song but #G?#ot2o  
I believe everyone will find themselves somewhere in each song.  Each of f*88k='\W
