Though Public Mind is Nehemiah抯 first solo release, it is not Nehemiah抯 {d(PH7R  
debut on the music scene.  Raised in his father抯 church, Nehemiah has S$%/9^\jF  
been performing music in one form or another for most of his life.   'N='B<^;%  
Nehemiah had recorded his first song by the age of 12 and at the age of 15 .&7=ZY>E  
he headlined his first concert in his hometown of Portland, Oregon with 8+a/x#b-  
the proceeds going toward teenage victims of domestic violence.  It was aVuan&]*=  
after that concert that Nehemiah was convinced that he wanted to pursue `(;d+fof

This pursuit has had its ups and downs but each one of them has shaped doc5;?6   
who Nehemiah is today, both as an artist and as a person.  The highlights @babgP,  
of Nehemiah抯 early career included an appearance in the motion picture ~QBf78@Gf  
Reggie抯 Prayer, starring the late football star Reggie White.  In &\sg~  
addition, Nehemiah appeared on a nationally syndicated talk show, took 2)RW*Qu;+  
his live show to Canada, and opened up for the famed R&B/Gospel group, ABhza|  
Virtue.  The experiences of his teenage years opened the door for ^.kas7<  
Nehemiah to later join Soul, a contemporary gospel group signed to a !::k\}DS  
subsidiary of the Hendrix record label.  This release spent 9 weeks on mm#U a/~1u  
the Billboard gospel charts and peeked at number 36.  Though the group ^ bM;C_<$f  
was short-lived it provided Nehemiah the opportunity to tour the states +6<MK;  
and establish relationships that would bear fruit in the years to come. w])~m1yW

After briefly filling the lead vocalist spot in a group with producer HR 2l5@gDk5  
Crump (Beyonce), Nehemiah decided to focus on developing his solo project.   [%l+ C~m  
His debut solo album, Public Mind, is the product of all of his life 58e{WC  
experiences, both good and bad.  The mid-tempo track 揟hat Person?is a Zy*}C,Z  
celebratory autobiographical account of all that happened to Nehemiah as f+xGf6V  
he recognized all that Jesus Christ is.  Another personal song, 揊ly Away,? e@]cI/j  
was written for his daughter, Amiah, who died several weeks after being oE)
c8rE  
born.  It is songs like these that helped the album find its title.   ~ezCE4^&  
Nehemiah explains, 揟he title of the album is intended to communicate on -<z'f){gb  
two levels.  First, I wanted to emphasize that I identify with my audience.   fbuop&FN+q  
The things that they struggle with, I struggle with.  The things that r@%32h  
trouble them, trouble me.  Second, I wanted to show that this album is not :Yz.Bfli  
simply a collection of songs, it is a window into my mind and life which I }T,E$vsx

Nehemiah lists artists ranging from Commissioned to Boyz II Men to Phil @D"|Jq=6P  
Collins among his influences and the diversity of his personal palate comes aE{b65'Dt  
through in the diversity of the album.  Nehemiah wrote and produced much of "6KOql3  
the disc himself while also teaming with producers and songwriters Derek W]Ph:O^5c  
Clark (Fred Hammond), Anson Dawkins (Dawkins & Dawkins), Chris Turner PYz| d  
(Singleton抯), Cole Brown (Michelle Williams) and his brother J.B. $Uewv +  
(Benjiman).  The production and vocals on the project are top notch, there |xKB><  
is nothing about Nehemiah抯 debut that sounds like the independent project :L`z~/6  
it truly is.  But while people will definitely respond to the impressive 0l 3RwWj  
vocals and banging tracks Nehemiah hopes they will especially be drawn to 4QIvxH  
the stories.  揝ome of these songs are birthed out of experiences I抳e 3&' STPpW  
lived and some of them were born out of the experiences of my community.   `SW`d<+L  
Not all people will be able to relate to the exact details of every song but 38'H-]8q"  
I believe everyone will find themselves somewhere in each song.  Each of |=%$7b\C  
them speaks of something true and real that we can all identify with.  I STOE=TC>
