Though Public Mind is Nehemiah抯 first solo release, it is not Nehemiah抯 |:5O|m '  
debut on the music scene.  Raised in his father抯 church, Nehemiah has N\*oL*[j  
been performing music in one form or another for most of his life.   4+q,[m-$(  
Nehemiah had recorded his first song by the age of 12 and at the age of 15 q~ aFV<Q  
he headlined his first concert in his hometown of Portland, Oregon with QUW`Yc  
the proceeds going toward teenage victims of domestic violence.  It was \ji\r]k  
after that concert that Nehemiah was convinced that he wanted to pursue xg/(  
music professionally. N_NN0

This pursuit has had its ups and downs but each one of them has shaped Q&:)D7m\)S  
who Nehemiah is today, both as an artist and as a person.  The highlights syBpF:`-W  
of Nehemiah抯 early career included an appearance in the motion picture G^t)^iI"'  
Reggie抯 Prayer, starring the late football star Reggie White.  In T"{~mQ*  
addition, Nehemiah appeared on a nationally syndicated talk show, took 7JBs7L

his live show to Canada, and opened up for the famed R&B/Gospel group, bUS:c 2"  
Virtue.  The experiences of his teenage years opened the door for $B-/>Rz  
Nehemiah to later join Soul, a contemporary gospel group signed to a )).=MTk  
subsidiary of the Hendrix record label.  This release spent 9 weeks on V8 8u-  
the Billboard gospel charts and peeked at number 36.  Though the group `.J)Z=o  
was short-lived it provided Nehemiah the opportunity to tour the states vU,7Y|t`  
and establish relationships that would bear fruit in the years to come. 0a89<yX

After briefly filling the lead vocalist spot in a group with producer HR >`UqS`YQK  
Crump (Beyonce), Nehemiah decided to focus on developing his solo project.   *fc8M(]&d  
His debut solo album, Public Mind, is the product of all of his life }d}gb`Du  
experiences, both good and bad.  The mid-tempo track 揟hat Person?is a <&b,%O  
celebratory autobiographical account of all that happened to Nehemiah as Zzjx;SF  
he recognized all that Jesus Christ is.  Another personal song, 揊ly Away,? s 1M-(d Q  
was written for his daughter, Amiah, who died several weeks after being "qq$i35x  
born.  It is songs like these that helped the album find its title.   h@R n)D  
Nehemiah explains, 揟he title of the album is intended to communicate on gGvL6Fu  
two levels.  First, I wanted to emphasize that I identify with my audience.   M}o.= Iqa  
The things that they struggle with, I struggle with.  The things that #).^k-
  
trouble them, trouble me.  Second, I wanted to show that this album is not k*;U?C!  
simply a collection of songs, it is a window into my mind and life which I zgjgEhnvU

Nehemiah lists artists ranging from Commissioned to Boyz II Men to Phil Z~Q5<A9Jz  
Collins among his influences and the diversity of his personal palate comes _m?i$5  
through in the diversity of the album.  Nehemiah wrote and produced much of CbM~\6R  
the disc himself while also teaming with producers and songwriters Derek >I@&"&d  
Clark (Fred Hammond), Anson Dawkins (Dawkins & Dawkins), Chris Turner ?<t?G  
(Singleton抯), Cole Brown (Michelle Williams) and his brother J.B. F}l3\uC]  
(Benjiman).  The production and vocals on the project are top notch, there /E<Q_/'Z  
is nothing about Nehemiah抯 debut that sounds like the independent project h81giY]  
it truly is.  But while people will definitely respond to the impressive %T

vocals and banging tracks Nehemiah hopes they will especially be drawn to k?7"r4Vc)S  
the stories.  揝ome of these songs are birthed out of experiences I抳e D,.`mX  
lived and some of them were born out of the experiences of my community.   poafGoH-Y  
Not all people will be able to relate to the exact details of every song but h!dij^bD  
I believe everyone will find themselves somewhere in each song.  Each of +ZjDTTk  
them speaks of something true and real that we can all identify with.  I &I-:=ir
