Though Public Mind is Nehemiah抯 first solo release, it is not Nehemiah抯 3B{B6w}t&  
debut on the music scene.  Raised in his father抯 church, Nehemiah has jHP6d =  
been performing music in one form or another for most of his life.   +7HM7cw  
Nehemiah had recorded his first song by the age of 12 and at the age of 15 !N, Oe<  
he headlined his first concert in his hometown of Portland, Oregon with 6xFvu7L_c;  
the proceeds going toward teenage victims of domestic violence.  It was Vh%=JL sK  
after that concert that Nehemiah was convinced that he wanted to pursue Gw\-e;,

This pursuit has had its ups and downs but each one of them has shaped _A[k&nO!&J  
who Nehemiah is today, both as an artist and as a person.  The highlights U64WTS@  
of Nehemiah抯 early career included an appearance in the motion picture X>0$zE@0  
Reggie抯 Prayer, starring the late football star Reggie White.  In Q db~I#}m'  
addition, Nehemiah appeared on a nationally syndicated talk show, took epWTZV(1x  
his live show to Canada, and opened up for the famed R&B/Gospel group, n/>^!S  
Virtue.  The experiences of his teenage years opened the door for !!jitFHzb  
Nehemiah to later join Soul, a contemporary gospel group signed to a ,};UD  W  
subsidiary of the Hendrix record label.  This release spent 9 weeks on #osP"~{   
the Billboard gospel charts and peeked at number 36.  Though the group yA74Rxl*6  
was short-lived it provided Nehemiah the opportunity to tour the states L)0j&  
and establish relationships that would bear fruit in the years to come. +lK?)77f

After briefly filling the lead vocalist spot in a group with producer HR 9KqN .  
Crump (Beyonce), Nehemiah decided to focus on developing his solo project.   FCk4[qOp7  
His debut solo album, Public Mind, is the product of all of his life |H.i$8_A  
experiences, both good and bad.  The mid-tempo track 揟hat Person?is a nUgZ]ag=G  
celebratory autobiographical account of all that happened to Nehemiah as `7f><p/q  
he recognized all that Jesus Christ is.  Another personal song, 揊ly Away,? _8-iO.T+2  
was written for his daughter, Amiah, who died several weeks after being 6}Iu~|5  
born.  It is songs like these that helped the album find its title.

Nehemiah explains, 揟he title of the album is intended to communicate on jbDap i<  
two levels.  First, I wanted to emphasize that I identify with my audience.   R F)Qsa  
The things that they struggle with, I struggle with.  The things that l6YToYzE2  
trouble them, trouble me.  Second, I wanted to show that this album is not *5kQ6#l  
simply a collection of songs, it is a window into my mind and life which I N2 vA/

Nehemiah lists artists ranging from Commissioned to Boyz II Men to Phil |^uU&O;.  
Collins among his influences and the diversity of his personal palate comes ,-4SVj8$P  
through in the diversity of the album.  Nehemiah wrote and produced much of $r>\y (W  
the disc himself while also teaming with producers and songwriters Derek MS_@ Xe  
Clark (Fred Hammond), Anson Dawkins (Dawkins & Dawkins), Chris Turner 2 /rDi  
(Singleton抯), Cole Brown (Michelle Williams) and his brother J.B. F"#8`Ps>  
(Benjiman).  The production and vocals on the project are top notch, there y([""z3<w  
is nothing about Nehemiah抯 debut that sounds like the independent project Lq-Di|6q  
it truly is.  But while people will definitely respond to the impressive Qh3V[br  
vocals and banging tracks Nehemiah hopes they will especially be drawn to V_>)m3zsL  
the stories.  揝ome of these songs are birthed out of experiences I抳e igoUKDNiQ-  
lived and some of them were born out of the experiences of my community.   c*5y8k  
Not all people will be able to relate to the exact details of every song but pPC_ub  
I believe everyone will find themselves somewhere in each song.  Each of +c8cyx:^f  
them speaks of something true and real that we can all identify with.  I [(hB%x_"
