Though Public Mind is Nehemiah抯 first solo release, it is not Nehemiah抯 aWg*f*2f  
debut on the music scene.  Raised in his father抯 church, Nehemiah has Z4VNm1qs  
been performing music in one form or another for most of his life.   md S`nhb  
Nehemiah had recorded his first song by the age of 12 and at the age of 15 <0sT  
he headlined his first concert in his hometown of Portland, Oregon with zLt7jxx  
the proceeds going toward teenage victims of domestic violence.  It was B QxU~s  
after that concert that Nehemiah was convinced that he wanted to pursue .=`r?#0

This pursuit has had its ups and downs but each one of them has shaped -h%!#g  
who Nehemiah is today, both as an artist and as a person.  The highlights z\g6E/%%  
of Nehemiah抯 early career included an appearance in the motion picture yb4Jsk5%  
Reggie抯 Prayer, starring the late football star Reggie White.  In 8 o^ h\9I  
addition, Nehemiah appeared on a nationally syndicated talk show, took | > t,1T.  
his live show to Canada, and opened up for the famed R&B/Gospel group, P&kjtl68Y  
Virtue.  The experiences of his teenage years opened the door for \A%s" O/  
Nehemiah to later join Soul, a contemporary gospel group signed to a 'O:QS)  
subsidiary of the Hendrix record label.  This release spent 9 weeks on W`k||U9  
the Billboard gospel charts and peeked at number 36.  Though the group 9$Dsm@tX  
was short-lived it provided Nehemiah the opportunity to tour the states Z23*`yR  
and establish relationships that would bear fruit in the years to come. (U?*Z/

After briefly filling the lead vocalist spot in a group with producer HR (^lw<$N  
Crump (Beyonce), Nehemiah decided to focus on developing his solo project.   N.1@!\z@@  
His debut solo album, Public Mind, is the product of all of his life ps@;Z?Q  
experiences, both good and bad.  The mid-tempo track 揟hat Person?is a 1&2
X*$]y  
celebratory autobiographical account of all that happened to Nehemiah as ?7|6jTIs  
he recognized all that Jesus Christ is.  Another personal song, 揊ly Away,? ]ucz8('  
was written for his daughter, Amiah, who died several weeks after being J{w[vcf  
born.  It is songs like these that helped the album find its title.   xtq='s8e  
Nehemiah explains, 揟he title of the album is intended to communicate on P\k5%  
two levels.  First, I wanted to emphasize that I identify with my audience.   P/?'ea  
The things that they struggle with, I struggle with.  The things that c|hT\1XR,  
trouble them, trouble me.  Second, I wanted to show that this album is not rY:A

simply a collection of songs, it is a window into my mind and life which I Et0[HotO

Nehemiah lists artists ranging from Commissioned to Boyz II Men to Phil %4#Q3YlyD  
Collins among his influences and the diversity of his personal palate comes =jEh#  
through in the diversity of the album.  Nehemiah wrote and produced much of yRdME>_L  
the disc himself while also teaming with producers and songwriters Derek >Y>>lE! k  
Clark (Fred Hammond), Anson Dawkins (Dawkins & Dawkins), Chris Turner =[ZuE0c  
(Singleton抯), Cole Brown (Michelle Williams) and his brother J.B. iVdY\+N!<  
(Benjiman).  The production and vocals on the project are top notch, there "54t7  
is nothing about Nehemiah抯 debut that sounds like the independent project &l-1.muQ  
it truly is.  But while people will definitely respond to the impressive ~9Jlb-*I5  
vocals and banging tracks Nehemiah hopes they will especially be drawn to }<7S%?TY  
the stories.  揝ome of these songs are birthed out of experiences I抳e _&U.DMt2 C  
lived and some of them were born out of the experiences of my community.   ~jOn)jBRZ  
Not all people will be able to relate to the exact details of every song but OA?pBA  
I believe everyone will find themselves somewhere in each song.  Each of 2leTEs5aK`  
them speaks of something true and real that we can all identify with.  I lKT<aYX
