Though Public Mind is Nehemiah抯 first solo release, it is not Nehemiah抯 {PVu3W  
debut on the music scene.  Raised in his father抯 church, Nehemiah has ,){0y%c#y  
been performing music in one form or another for most of his life.   $Tur"_`I;  
Nehemiah had recorded his first song by the age of 12 and at the age of 15 #] GM#.  
he headlined his first concert in his hometown of Portland, Oregon with UKJY.W!w4  
the proceeds going toward teenage victims of domestic violence.  It was Q]7Q  
after that concert that Nehemiah was convinced that he wanted to pursue \fKE~

This pursuit has had its ups and downs but each one of them has shaped LuqaGy}>-  
who Nehemiah is today, both as an artist and as a person.  The highlights IB6]Wj  
of Nehemiah抯 early career included an appearance in the motion picture {;}8Z$  
Reggie抯 Prayer, starring the late football star Reggie White.  In sR9F:  
addition, Nehemiah appeared on a nationally syndicated talk show, took Ii,:+
o%  
his live show to Canada, and opened up for the famed R&B/Gospel group, \O:xw-eG   
Virtue.  The experiences of his teenage years opened the door for \S<5b&G  
Nehemiah to later join Soul, a contemporary gospel group signed to a O+8`.  
subsidiary of the Hendrix record label.  This release spent 9 weeks on 4AM*KI  
the Billboard gospel charts and peeked at number 36.  Though the group !qpu /  
was short-lived it provided Nehemiah the opportunity to tour the states P8VU&b\  
and establish relationships that would bear fruit in the years to come. S }n;..{

After briefly filling the lead vocalist spot in a group with producer HR |d3agfS[n  
Crump (Beyonce), Nehemiah decided to focus on developing his solo project.   *Z:PB%d5  
His debut solo album, Public Mind, is the product of all of his life "XY?v8*c  
experiences, both good and bad.  The mid-tempo track 揟hat Person?is a L&N"&\K2U  
celebratory autobiographical account of all that happened to Nehemiah as qC4-J)8Wk  
he recognized all that Jesus Christ is.  Another personal song, 揊ly Away,? 'oHR4O*  
was written for his daughter, Amiah, who died several weeks after being _Nn!S
E  
born.  It is songs like these that helped the album find its title.   .;:xx~G_Q  
Nehemiah explains, 揟he title of the album is intended to communicate on =R'v]SXj  
two levels.  First, I wanted to emphasize that I identify with my audience.   =e;wEf%`  
The things that they struggle with, I struggle with.  The things that fEjW7 c  
trouble them, trouble me.  Second, I wanted to show that this album is not 0|ps),  
simply a collection of songs, it is a window into my mind and life which I ?},ItJ#>)q  
have made public through this release.?      YzZF^q^I

Nehemiah lists artists ranging from Commissioned to Boyz II Men to Phil (6BCFl:/Q<  
Collins among his influences and the diversity of his personal palate comes cBI)?  
through in the diversity of the album.  Nehemiah wrote and produced much of 2 QmUg  
the disc himself while also teaming with producers and songwriters Derek ]p!J]YV ]0  
Clark (Fred Hammond), Anson Dawkins (Dawkins & Dawkins), Chris Turner i4I0oRp  
(Singleton抯), Cole Brown (Michelle Williams) and his brother J.B. v/czW\z  
(Benjiman).  The production and vocals on the project are top notch, there fI1

is nothing about Nehemiah抯 debut that sounds like the independent project &FrB6y  
it truly is.  But while people will definitely respond to the impressive 9^ r  
vocals and banging tracks Nehemiah hopes they will especially be drawn to C'._}\nX  
the stories.  揝ome of these songs are birthed out of experiences I抳e iW?9oe  
lived and some of them were born out of the experiences of my community.   YP<]f>SBt  
Not all people will be able to relate to the exact details of every song but ~qS/90,  
I believe everyone will find themselves somewhere in each song.  Each of !T*B{+|  
them speaks of something true and real that we can all identify with.  I <yS"c5D6
