Though Public Mind is Nehemiah抯 first solo release, it is not Nehemiah抯 &1Az`[zKGW  
debut on the music scene.  Raised in his father抯 church, Nehemiah has OB"QWdh  
been performing music in one form or another for most of his life.   2QBtwlQ?[  
Nehemiah had recorded his first song by the age of 12 and at the age of 15 +ckj]yA;  
he headlined his first concert in his hometown of Portland, Oregon with .b]oB_  
the proceeds going toward teenage victims of domestic violence.  It was bz>#}P=58G  
after that concert that Nehemiah was convinced that he wanted to pursue 4/d#)6

This pursuit has had its ups and downs but each one of them has shaped >U) ,^H(  
who Nehemiah is today, both as an artist and as a person.  The highlights j5ui  
of Nehemiah抯 early career included an appearance in the motion picture n_c0=YH  
Reggie抯 Prayer, starring the late football star Reggie White.  In Lnj5EY er  
addition, Nehemiah appeared on a nationally syndicated talk show, took 3@}_ F<"*  
his live show to Canada, and opened up for the famed R&B/Gospel group, c=| a\\  
Virtue.  The experiences of his teenage years opened the door for cb UVeh7Q  
Nehemiah to later join Soul, a contemporary gospel group signed to a +bQn2PG=  
subsidiary of the Hendrix record label.  This release spent 9 weeks on =h&^X>!  
the Billboard gospel charts and peeked at number 36.  Though the group rP3)TeG6  
was short-lived it provided Nehemiah the opportunity to tour the states ,p 'M@[  
and establish relationships that would bear fruit in the years to come. S"_vD<q

After briefly filling the lead vocalist spot in a group with producer HR 1}'Jbj"/  
Crump (Beyonce), Nehemiah decided to focus on developing his solo project.   QeQbO  
His debut solo album, Public Mind, is the product of all of his life X5<L  
experiences, both good and bad.  The mid-tempo track 揟hat Person?is a bqLv81V  
celebratory autobiographical account of all that happened to Nehemiah as :m+:%keK  
he recognized all that Jesus Christ is.  Another personal song, 揊ly Away,? W``e6RX-  
was written for his daughter, Amiah, who died several weeks after being ")o.x7
~N  
born.  It is songs like these that helped the album find its title.   $iF7hyZ  
Nehemiah explains, 揟he title of the album is intended to communicate on 9r)5d&,6  
two levels.  First, I wanted to emphasize that I identify with my audience.   rAQ^:

The things that they struggle with, I struggle with.  The things that ''WX  
trouble them, trouble me.  Second, I wanted to show that this album is not ( Ni

simply a collection of songs, it is a window into my mind and life which I oYqC"g&4Z

Nehemiah lists artists ranging from Commissioned to Boyz II Men to Phil [S9nF  
Collins among his influences and the diversity of his personal palate comes $23R%8j  
through in the diversity of the album.  Nehemiah wrote and produced much of Y<M}'t  
the disc himself while also teaming with producers and songwriters Derek %EVg.k$  
Clark (Fred Hammond), Anson Dawkins (Dawkins & Dawkins), Chris Turner OZv&{_b_  
(Singleton抯), Cole Brown (Michelle Williams) and his brother J.B. UcK!v*3E  
(Benjiman).  The production and vocals on the project are top notch, there ^^?ECnpcU  
is nothing about Nehemiah抯 debut that sounds like the independent project 979L]H#  
it truly is.  But while people will definitely respond to the impressive e%f8|3

vocals and banging tracks Nehemiah hopes they will especially be drawn to B j*X_m  
the stories.  揝ome of these songs are birthed out of experiences I抳e Q2#)Jx\6!  
lived and some of them were born out of the experiences of my community.    $hN!DHz  
Not all people will be able to relate to the exact details of every song but , D&FCs%v  
I believe everyone will find themselves somewhere in each song.  Each of nF//y}  
them speaks of something true and real that we can all identify with.  I =RV$8.Xp
