Though Public Mind is Nehemiah抯 first solo release, it is not Nehemiah抯 wc}4:~  
debut on the music scene.  Raised in his father抯 church, Nehemiah has F7=&CW 0  
been performing music in one form or another for most of his life.   k4"O}jQO  
Nehemiah had recorded his first song by the age of 12 and at the age of 15 _gCi@uXS3  
he headlined his first concert in his hometown of Portland, Oregon with w (ev=)7<  
the proceeds going toward teenage victims of domestic violence.  It was @ "CP@^  
after that concert that Nehemiah was convinced that he wanted to pursue _Pl5?5eZj  
music professionally. M=EV^Tw-=

This pursuit has had its ups and downs but each one of them has shaped A2`Xh#o  
who Nehemiah is today, both as an artist and as a person.  The highlights <bywi2]z  
of Nehemiah抯 early career included an appearance in the motion picture -t125)6I  
Reggie抯 Prayer, starring the late football star Reggie White.  In 99b"WH^3$y  
addition, Nehemiah appeared on a nationally syndicated talk show, took e\*N Lj_(  
his live show to Canada, and opened up for the famed R&B/Gospel group, """eU,"  
Virtue.  The experiences of his teenage years opened the door for E1qf N>0Z  
Nehemiah to later join Soul, a contemporary gospel group signed to a ~(^?M  
subsidiary of the Hendrix record label.  This release spent 9 weeks on TLz>|gr  
the Billboard gospel charts and peeked at number 36.  Though the group id1gK(F8H  
was short-lived it provided Nehemiah the opportunity to tour the states 'puiahA  
and establish relationships that would bear fruit in the years to come. .bRDz:?j

After briefly filling the lead vocalist spot in a group with producer HR cNl$ vP83z  
Crump (Beyonce), Nehemiah decided to focus on developing his solo project.   -e*(+  
His debut solo album, Public Mind, is the product of all of his life 1%N[DA^<\  
experiences, both good and bad.  The mid-tempo track 揟hat Person?is a i| *r/  
celebratory autobiographical account of all that happened to Nehemiah as 4L
&Rs;  
he recognized all that Jesus Christ is.  Another personal song, 揊ly Away,? {iTA=\q2O  
was written for his daughter, Amiah, who died several weeks after being 5F1P|t#  
born.  It is songs like these that helped the album find its title.   zZPXI&,  
Nehemiah explains, 揟he title of the album is intended to communicate on 4zqO!nk  
two levels.  First, I wanted to emphasize that I identify with my audience.   u#$sO;8s  
The things that they struggle with, I struggle with.  The things that ]"\sd"  
trouble them, trouble me.  Second, I wanted to show that this album is not Cs^'g'  
simply a collection of songs, it is a window into my mind and life which I v%E!

Nehemiah lists artists ranging from Commissioned to Boyz II Men to Phil zf[KZ\6H  
Collins among his influences and the diversity of his personal palate comes n55s7wzM  
through in the diversity of the album.  Nehemiah wrote and produced much of fZxEE~Q1  
the disc himself while also teaming with producers and songwriters Derek H4ancmy  
Clark (Fred Hammond), Anson Dawkins (Dawkins & Dawkins), Chris Turner $~1~+s0$  
(Singleton抯), Cole Brown (Michelle Williams) and his brother J.B. e:n3@T,

(Benjiman).  The production and vocals on the project are top notch, there U%tpNWB  
is nothing about Nehemiah抯 debut that sounds like the independent project N8
m3Wy  
it truly is.  But while people will definitely respond to the impressive &2pa9i  
vocals and banging tracks Nehemiah hopes they will especially be drawn to cN]g^  
the stories.  揝ome of these songs are birthed out of experiences I抳e iE"+-z\U  
lived and some of them were born out of the experiences of my community.   )Tf,G[z&ge  
Not all people will be able to relate to the exact details of every song but 7KV0g1GQ  
I believe everyone will find themselves somewhere in each song.  Each of VyOpPIP  
them speaks of something true and real that we can all identify with.  I 6"GHVFB
