Though Public Mind is Nehemiah抯 first solo release, it is not Nehemiah抯 o;[?b'\[d  
debut on the music scene.  Raised in his father抯 church, Nehemiah has u~pBMg ,  
been performing music in one form or another for most of his life.   MpNgp)%>  
Nehemiah had recorded his first song by the age of 12 and at the age of 15 8-||Nh  
he headlined his first concert in his hometown of Portland, Oregon with uM"_3je{W2  
the proceeds going toward teenage victims of domestic violence.  It was 0jJ:WPR  
after that concert that Nehemiah was convinced that he wanted to pursue &~Hx!]uc  
music professionally. n0a|GZyO]

This pursuit has had its ups and downs but each one of them has shaped SH1S
_EQ<  
who Nehemiah is today, both as an artist and as a person.  The highlights @ajt D-_2  
of Nehemiah抯 early career included an appearance in the motion picture IGnP#@`5]  
Reggie抯 Prayer, starring the late football star Reggie White.  In 5eLm  
addition, Nehemiah appeared on a nationally syndicated talk show, took n^lr7(!6  
his live show to Canada, and opened up for the famed R&B/Gospel group, luWr.<1  
Virtue.  The experiences of his teenage years opened the door for urbSprdF  
Nehemiah to later join Soul, a contemporary gospel group signed to a TCWt3\  
subsidiary of the Hendrix record label.  This release spent 9 weeks on <5 )F9.$  
the Billboard gospel charts and peeked at number 36.  Though the group $-i(xnU/nl  
was short-lived it provided Nehemiah the opportunity to tour the states drwD3jx0xv  
and establish relationships that would bear fruit in the years to come. 6*&$ha}X

After briefly filling the lead vocalist spot in a group with producer HR m[}@\y  
Crump (Beyonce), Nehemiah decided to focus on developing his solo project.   -F$v`|(O+  
His debut solo album, Public Mind, is the product of all of his life B?nw([4m  
experiences, both good and bad.  The mid-tempo track 揟hat Person?is a Fp&tJ]=B.  
celebratory autobiographical account of all that happened to Nehemiah as UdOO+Z_K%  
he recognized all that Jesus Christ is.  Another personal song, 揊ly Away,? I/B*iW^  
was written for his daughter, Amiah, who died several weeks after being _ ?o>i/  
born.  It is songs like these that helped the album find its title.   0$g;O5y"i  
Nehemiah explains, 揟he title of the album is intended to communicate on 4JO[yN  
two levels.  First, I wanted to emphasize that I identify with my audience.   *|4/XHi  
The things that they struggle with, I struggle with.  The things that +\R__tx;  
trouble them, trouble me.  Second, I wanted to show that this album is not p![UOI"W  
simply a collection of songs, it is a window into my mind and life which I gyz_$

Nehemiah lists artists ranging from Commissioned to Boyz II Men to Phil :.P

Collins among his influences and the diversity of his personal palate comes @ogj -ol&  
through in the diversity of the album.  Nehemiah wrote and produced much of }&LVD$Bz  
the disc himself while also teaming with producers and songwriters Derek J#?`l,  
Clark (Fred Hammond), Anson Dawkins (Dawkins & Dawkins), Chris Turner *'cyFu$  
(Singleton抯), Cole Brown (Michelle Williams) and his brother J.B. PcQ\o>0")  
(Benjiman).  The production and vocals on the project are top notch, there fW w+'xF!  
is nothing about Nehemiah抯 debut that sounds like the independent project l`<1Y|  
it truly is.  But while people will definitely respond to the impressive k>)Uyw$!  
vocals and banging tracks Nehemiah hopes they will especially be drawn to J kxsua  
the stories.  揝ome of these songs are birthed out of experiences I抳e .<zN/
&MXf  
lived and some of them were born out of the experiences of my community.   z -c1,GOD  
Not all people will be able to relate to the exact details of every song but 6Zl#$>P  
I believe everyone will find themselves somewhere in each song.  Each of ?={S"qK(q  
them speaks of something true and real that we can all identify with.  I ZOBcV,K
