Though Public Mind is Nehemiah抯 first solo release, it is not Nehemiah抯 F^`sIrZvs  
debut on the music scene.  Raised in his father抯 church, Nehemiah has b*P\a  
been performing music in one form or another for most of his life.   yU .B(|  
Nehemiah had recorded his first song by the age of 12 and at the age of 15  "thfd"-  
he headlined his first concert in his hometown of Portland, Oregon with Z;WqKIM#  
the proceeds going toward teenage victims of domestic violence.  It was V+Cb.$@  
after that concert that Nehemiah was convinced that he wanted to pursue #BT= K

This pursuit has had its ups and downs but each one of them has shaped v oC< /}E  
who Nehemiah is today, both as an artist and as a person.  The highlights !ZSC"  
of Nehemiah抯 early career included an appearance in the motion picture e5veq!*C?  
Reggie抯 Prayer, starring the late football star Reggie White.  In &,NHk9.aq  
addition, Nehemiah appeared on a nationally syndicated talk show, took hrEKmRmF-  
his live show to Canada, and opened up for the famed R&B/Gospel group, <@;eN&  
Virtue.  The experiences of his teenage years opened the door for 60X B  
Nehemiah to later join Soul, a contemporary gospel group signed to a }"q1B  
subsidiary of the Hendrix record label.  This release spent 9 weeks on #H
7(dT  
the Billboard gospel charts and peeked at number 36.  Though the group u@==Ut  
was short-lived it provided Nehemiah the opportunity to tour the states ;YK^&!N  
and establish relationships that would bear fruit in the years to come. e^Jy-?E

After briefly filling the lead vocalist spot in a group with producer HR -#)xeW.d  
Crump (Beyonce), Nehemiah decided to focus on developing his solo project.   joM98H@  
His debut solo album, Public Mind, is the product of all of his life @jwUH8g1  
experiences, both good and bad.  The mid-tempo track 揟hat Person?is a 2Ybz`O!  
celebratory autobiographical account of all that happened to Nehemiah as tb0s+rb  
he recognized all that Jesus Christ is.  Another personal song, 揊ly Away,? d*q_DV  
was written for his daughter, Amiah, who died several weeks after being k`\DC\0RG  
born.  It is songs like these that helped the album find its title.    ;h  
Nehemiah explains, 揟he title of the album is intended to communicate on {H"gp
?Z-  
two levels.  First, I wanted to emphasize that I identify with my audience.   9W'#4  
The things that they struggle with, I struggle with.  The things that `33h4G  
trouble them, trouble me.  Second, I wanted to show that this album is not QKCk. 0Xe  
simply a collection of songs, it is a window into my mind and life which I mnu7Y([2>

Nehemiah lists artists ranging from Commissioned to Boyz II Men to Phil X)~JX}-L  
Collins among his influences and the diversity of his personal palate comes v]_{oj_(-  
through in the diversity of the album.  Nehemiah wrote and produced much of eZP"M6  
the disc himself while also teaming with producers and songwriters Derek QM;L>e-ZY  
Clark (Fred Hammond), Anson Dawkins (Dawkins & Dawkins), Chris Turner A:

(Singleton抯), Cole Brown (Michelle Williams) and his brother J.B. 8iX?4qj{P  
(Benjiman).  The production and vocals on the project are top notch, there 7F+w o  
is nothing about Nehemiah抯 debut that sounds like the independent project B;G|2um:$  
it truly is.  But while people will definitely respond to the impressive w="I*7c@  
vocals and banging tracks Nehemiah hopes they will especially be drawn to n:k~\-&WJ  
the stories.  揝ome of these songs are birthed out of experiences I抳e OmKT}D~ 4  
lived and some of them were born out of the experiences of my community.   [@>Kd`!'  
Not all people will be able to relate to the exact details of every song but L & PhABZ  
I believe everyone will find themselves somewhere in each song.  Each of wPqIy}-  
them speaks of something true and real that we can all identify with.  I Z
