Though Public Mind is Nehemiah抯 first solo release, it is not Nehemiah抯 C=Fzu&N}  
debut on the music scene.  Raised in his father抯 church, Nehemiah has |C \}P  
been performing music in one form or another for most of his life.   4fV3Ear=j  
Nehemiah had recorded his first song by the age of 12 and at the age of 15 KP;(Q+qTx  
he headlined his first concert in his hometown of Portland, Oregon with Huw\&E  
the proceeds going toward teenage victims of domestic violence.  It was 59uwB('|lH  
after that concert that Nehemiah was convinced that he wanted to pursue &>WWzikB*

This pursuit has had its ups and downs but each one of them has shaped `i~ Y Fr  
who Nehemiah is today, both as an artist and as a person.  The highlights x LBQ  
of Nehemiah抯 early career included an appearance in the motion picture 6Sj6i^"  
Reggie抯 Prayer, starring the late football star Reggie White.  In Cm$1$?J  
addition, Nehemiah appeared on a nationally syndicated talk show, took +#@"*yj3  
his live show to Canada, and opened up for the famed R&B/Gospel group, }0hL~i  
Virtue.  The experiences of his teenage years opened the door for N<|$h5isq  
Nehemiah to later join Soul, a contemporary gospel group signed to a 2g{)AtK$#  
subsidiary of the Hendrix record label.  This release spent 9 weeks on 2],_^XBvB  
the Billboard gospel charts and peeked at number 36.  Though the group p4>$z& _  
was short-lived it provided Nehemiah the opportunity to tour the states #h!*dj"  
and establish relationships that would bear fruit in the years to come. 9ch#}/7B

After briefly filling the lead vocalist spot in a group with producer HR  q}Z3?W  
Crump (Beyonce), Nehemiah decided to focus on developing his solo project.   T70QJ=,  
His debut solo album, Public Mind, is the product of all of his life FxG7Pk+=  
experiences, both good and bad.  The mid-tempo track 揟hat Person?is a 6Z?j AXGSq  
celebratory autobiographical account of all that happened to Nehemiah as @xsP5je]  
he recognized all that Jesus Christ is.  Another personal song, 揊ly Away,? |xr%6 [Ff  
was written for his daughter, Amiah, who died several weeks after being n@C~ev@%S  
born.  It is songs like these that helped the album find its title.   _;A $C(  
Nehemiah explains, 揟he title of the album is intended to communicate on ~Aad9yyi  
two levels.  First, I wanted to emphasize that I identify with my audience.   _STB$cZ  
The things that they struggle with, I struggle with.  The things that 9&%fq)gS  
trouble them, trouble me.  Second, I wanted to show that this album is not 6!iJ;1PeE  
simply a collection of songs, it is a window into my mind and life which I C8N{l:1f]

Nehemiah lists artists ranging from Commissioned to Boyz II Men to Phil cR-~)UyrO  
Collins among his influences and the diversity of his personal palate comes nq}Q  
through in the diversity of the album.  Nehemiah wrote and produced much of `7aDEzmJ  
the disc himself while also teaming with producers and songwriters Derek !;@_VWR  
Clark (Fred Hammond), Anson Dawkins (Dawkins & Dawkins), Chris Turner 38V3o`f  
(Singleton抯), Cole Brown (Michelle Williams) and his brother J.B. 7DW]JK l  
(Benjiman).  The production and vocals on the project are top notch, there `;,Pb&

is nothing about Nehemiah抯 debut that sounds like the independent project p_*M:P1Ma4  
it truly is.  But while people will definitely respond to the impressive ~d{.ng 4K  
vocals and banging tracks Nehemiah hopes they will especially be drawn to m^%|ZTrwN7  
the stories.  揝ome of these songs are birthed out of experiences I抳e ?i\B^uB  
lived and some of them were born out of the experiences of my community.   R)?{

Not all people will be able to relate to the exact details of every song but 9n]|PE

I believe everyone will find themselves somewhere in each song.  Each of p5=|Y^g !  
them speaks of something true and real that we can all identify with.  I ?8dVH2W.
