Though Public Mind is Nehemiah抯 first solo release, it is not Nehemiah抯 f1CMR4D  
debut on the music scene.  Raised in his father抯 church, Nehemiah has hP4)8>  
been performing music in one form or another for most of his life.   |?2 hml  
Nehemiah had recorded his first song by the age of 12 and at the age of 15 i!.I

he headlined his first concert in his hometown of Portland, Oregon with Wlr&g xZ  
the proceeds going toward teenage victims of domestic violence.  It was h=K36a)  
after that concert that Nehemiah was convinced that he wanted to pursue %Vw|5yA4

This pursuit has had its ups and downs but each one of them has shaped r(,= uLc  
who Nehemiah is today, both as an artist and as a person.  The highlights da9*9yN  
of Nehemiah抯 early career included an appearance in the motion picture (pT(&/\8  
Reggie抯 Prayer, starring the late football star Reggie White.  In DYT@BiW{  
addition, Nehemiah appeared on a nationally syndicated talk show, took yBPt%EF  
his live show to Canada, and opened up for the famed R&B/Gospel group, #7-kL7 MK]  
Virtue.  The experiences of his teenage years opened the door for \8>  
Nehemiah to later join Soul, a contemporary gospel group signed to a 0\EpH[m}-  
subsidiary of the Hendrix record label.  This release spent 9 weeks on bRK CY6  
the Billboard gospel charts and peeked at number 36.  Though the group wuBlFUSg  
was short-lived it provided Nehemiah the opportunity to tour the states z<yNG/M1>U  
and establish relationships that would bear fruit in the years to come. e>?_)B4

After briefly filling the lead vocalist spot in a group with producer HR ^)9MzD^_nV  
Crump (Beyonce), Nehemiah decided to focus on developing his solo project.   "RV`L[(P*k  
His debut solo album, Public Mind, is the product of all of his life }&Wp3EWw  
experiences, both good and bad.  The mid-tempo track 揟hat Person?is a hs!UX=x|  
celebratory autobiographical account of all that happened to Nehemiah as (c(-E|u.  
he recognized all that Jesus Christ is.  Another personal song, 揊ly Away,? )KaLSL>  
was written for his daughter, Amiah, who died several weeks after being H)`CncB  
born.  It is songs like these that helped the album find its title.   xfV,==uF  
Nehemiah explains, 揟he title of the album is intended to communicate on xZ.~:V03\t  
two levels.  First, I wanted to emphasize that I identify with my audience.   W9&0k+#^  
The things that they struggle with, I struggle with.  The things that 93E,  
trouble them, trouble me.  Second, I wanted to show that this album is not 7d|*postv  
simply a collection of songs, it is a window into my mind and life which I x9x#'H3

through in the diversity of the album.  Nehemiah wrote and produced much of iA55yT

the disc himself while also teaming with producers and songwriters Derek )(:+q(m  
Clark (Fred Hammond), Anson Dawkins (Dawkins & Dawkins), Chris Turner h*;g0QBkl  
(Singleton抯), Cole Brown (Michelle Williams) and his brother J.B. b(PHZCy#  
(Benjiman).  The production and vocals on the project are top notch, there Sk6b`W7$  
is nothing about Nehemiah抯 debut that sounds like the independent project ;mf4U85  
it truly is.  But while people will definitely respond to the impressive =_$XP   
vocals and banging tracks Nehemiah hopes they will especially be drawn to 0On?{Bw  
the stories.  揝ome of these songs are birthed out of experiences I抳e qYgwyj=4  
lived and some of them were born out of the experiences of my community.   kfMhw M8kP  
Not all people will be able to relate to the exact details of every song but `y8 ?=  
I believe everyone will find themselves somewhere in each song.  Each of ~")hE%Kl}  
them speaks of something true and real that we can all identify with.  I :X'*8,]KHH
