Though Public Mind is Nehemiah抯 first solo release, it is not Nehemiah抯 (CV=0{]  
debut on the music scene.  Raised in his father抯 church, Nehemiah has R;.WOies4  
been performing music in one form or another for most of his life.   -"nYCF  
Nehemiah had recorded his first song by the age of 12 and at the age of 15 G7=8*@q>:  
he headlined his first concert in his hometown of Portland, Oregon with a #0{

the proceeds going toward teenage victims of domestic violence.  It was h n]6he  
after that concert that Nehemiah was convinced that he wanted to pursue =lmh^**4

This pursuit has had its ups and downs but each one of them has shaped !*ucVv;  
who Nehemiah is today, both as an artist and as a person.  The highlights )I$Mh@F  
of Nehemiah抯 early career included an appearance in the motion picture S8cFD):q  
Reggie抯 Prayer, starring the late football star Reggie White.  In He*L"VpWv  
addition, Nehemiah appeared on a nationally syndicated talk show, took Qv=Z  
his live show to Canada, and opened up for the famed R&B/Gospel group, $Yxy(7d7w  
Virtue.  The experiences of his teenage years opened the door for CFA>  
Nehemiah to later join Soul, a contemporary gospel group signed to a j,-7J*A~  
subsidiary of the Hendrix record label.  This release spent 9 weeks on h ,n!x:zy@  
the Billboard gospel charts and peeked at number 36.  Though the group zF$wz1 %  
was short-lived it provided Nehemiah the opportunity to tour the states 1e+?O7/  
and establish relationships that would bear fruit in the years to come. 1&As:kv5I

After briefly filling the lead vocalist spot in a group with producer HR N}h%8\  
Crump (Beyonce), Nehemiah decided to focus on developing his solo project.   K;ML'  
His debut solo album, Public Mind, is the product of all of his life ;$/G T
 
experiences, both good and bad.  The mid-tempo track 揟hat Person?is a ujh4cp  
celebratory autobiographical account of all that happened to Nehemiah as &t

he recognized all that Jesus Christ is.  Another personal song, 揊ly Away,? g!8lW   
was written for his daughter, Amiah, who died several weeks after being y

Nehemiah explains, 揟he title of the album is intended to communicate on qs b4@jt+  
two levels.  First, I wanted to emphasize that I identify with my audience.   >dGYZfqD  
The things that they struggle with, I struggle with.  The things that j%h Y0   
trouble them, trouble me.  Second, I wanted to show that this album is not .0ZvCv:>  
simply a collection of songs, it is a window into my mind and life which I =>J#_Pprn

Nehemiah lists artists ranging from Commissioned to Boyz II Men to Phil Fo=6A[J  
Collins among his influences and the diversity of his personal palate comes ]r

through in the diversity of the album.  Nehemiah wrote and produced much of # 0(\s@r.  
the disc himself while also teaming with producers and songwriters Derek }>:X|4]  
Clark (Fred Hammond), Anson Dawkins (Dawkins & Dawkins), Chris Turner [)u(\nfGX  
(Singleton抯), Cole Brown (Michelle Williams) and his brother J.B. F{+`F<r  
(Benjiman).  The production and vocals on the project are top notch, there OR9){qP  
is nothing about Nehemiah抯 debut that sounds like the independent project $F%?l\7j  
it truly is.  But while people will definitely respond to the impressive ,m8*uCf  
vocals and banging tracks Nehemiah hopes they will especially be drawn to "F}Ip&]hAG  
the stories.  揝ome of these songs are birthed out of experiences I抳e Oe!&Jma*>  
lived and some of them were born out of the experiences of my community.   h:NXO'  
Not all people will be able to relate to the exact details of every song but !;a<E:  
I believe everyone will find themselves somewhere in each song.  Each of /0uinx  
them speaks of something true and real that we can all identify with.  I eH8
