Though Public Mind is Nehemiah抯 first solo release, it is not Nehemiah抯 0fqycGSmU  
debut on the music scene.  Raised in his father抯 church, Nehemiah has /cvMp#<]  
been performing music in one form or another for most of his life.   {/,AMJ<:G]  
Nehemiah had recorded his first song by the age of 12 and at the age of 15 1FT3d  
he headlined his first concert in his hometown of Portland, Oregon with B;piO-hH  
the proceeds going toward teenage victims of domestic violence.  It was g^\!> i  
after that concert that Nehemiah was convinced that he wanted to pursue W|s";EAM  
music professionally. eYu0")

This pursuit has had its ups and downs but each one of them has shaped )ac!@slb^7  
who Nehemiah is today, both as an artist and as a person.  The highlights F'B0\v=  
of Nehemiah抯 early career included an appearance in the motion picture @tJic|)x  
Reggie抯 Prayer, starring the late football star Reggie White.  In N8J(RR9O  
addition, Nehemiah appeared on a nationally syndicated talk show, took mGkQx -|  
his live show to Canada, and opened up for the famed R&B/Gospel group, Y zmMF  
Virtue.  The experiences of his teenage years opened the door for ;&O *KhLH  
Nehemiah to later join Soul, a contemporary gospel group signed to a 3Y&4yIx  
subsidiary of the Hendrix record label.  This release spent 9 weeks on ?a1pO#{Dg  
the Billboard gospel charts and peeked at number 36.  Though the group _8\B~;0  
was short-lived it provided Nehemiah the opportunity to tour the states M9Nr/jE  
and establish relationships that would bear fruit in the years to come. q1ZZ T"'

After briefly filling the lead vocalist spot in a group with producer HR #5{BxX&\  
Crump (Beyonce), Nehemiah decided to focus on developing his solo project.   k*Aee7  
His debut solo album, Public Mind, is the product of all of his life 1083p9Uh  
experiences, both good and bad.  The mid-tempo track 揟hat Person?is a wTG(U3{3K
 
celebratory autobiographical account of all that happened to Nehemiah as j9vK~_?;  
he recognized all that Jesus Christ is.  Another personal song, 揊ly Away,? Mq'm TM  
was written for his daughter, Amiah, who died several weeks after being a(ml#-M  
born.  It is songs like these that helped the album find its title.   %}XyzGq{
  
Nehemiah explains, 揟he title of the album is intended to communicate on w8 `1'*HG  
two levels.  First, I wanted to emphasize that I identify with my audience.   8lA,3'z  
The things that they struggle with, I struggle with.  The things that Ki&a"Fu3  
trouble them, trouble me.  Second, I wanted to show that this album is not :fq4oHA#  
simply a collection of songs, it is a window into my mind and life which I Htln <N

Nehemiah lists artists ranging from Commissioned to Boyz II Men to Phil tCar:p4$  
Collins among his influences and the diversity of his personal palate comes nr,Z0  
through in the diversity of the album.  Nehemiah wrote and produced much of *v?kp>O  
the disc himself while also teaming with producers and songwriters Derek "^;h'  
Clark (Fred Hammond), Anson Dawkins (Dawkins & Dawkins), Chris Turner {Qn{w%!|  
(Singleton抯), Cole Brown (Michelle Williams) and his brother J.B. ou<,c?nNM  
(Benjiman).  The production and vocals on the project are top notch, there *;~u 5y2b  
is nothing about Nehemiah抯 debut that sounds like the independent project 5Z6MQ`(k  
it truly is.  But while people will definitely respond to the impressive (oG.A  
vocals and banging tracks Nehemiah hopes they will especially be drawn to NK(_ &.F
 
the stories.  揝ome of these songs are birthed out of experiences I抳e Uqy/~n-v<  
lived and some of them were born out of the experiences of my community.   ()F{kM8  
Not all people will be able to relate to the exact details of every song but %H,s~IU  
I believe everyone will find themselves somewhere in each song.  Each of
