Though Public Mind is Nehemiah抯 first solo release, it is not Nehemiah抯 ddpl Pzm#  
debut on the music scene.  Raised in his father抯 church, Nehemiah has FbSa~uN

Nehemiah had recorded his first song by the age of 12 and at the age of 15 ')PVGV(D+  
he headlined his first concert in his hometown of Portland, Oregon with

the proceeds going toward teenage victims of domestic violence.  It was ij)Cm]4(2  
after that concert that Nehemiah was convinced that he wanted to pursue {/M\Q@j

This pursuit has had its ups and downs but each one of them has shaped qJs[i>P[W  
who Nehemiah is today, both as an artist and as a person.  The highlights p%RUHN3G[  
of Nehemiah抯 early career included an appearance in the motion picture oFg'wAO.  
Reggie抯 Prayer, starring the late football star Reggie White.  In }N3`gCy9eN  
addition, Nehemiah appeared on a nationally syndicated talk show, took Etnb3<^[t  
his live show to Canada, and opened up for the famed R&B/Gospel group, JAb$M{t  
Virtue.  The experiences of his teenage years opened the door for N7.  @FK  
Nehemiah to later join Soul, a contemporary gospel group signed to a 2)LX^?7R  
subsidiary of the Hendrix record label.  This release spent 9 weeks on 2>y:N.  
the Billboard gospel charts and peeked at number 36.  Though the group P\B3 y+)  
was short-lived it provided Nehemiah the opportunity to tour the states 0^<,(]!  
and establish relationships that would bear fruit in the years to come. |_pl;&;:

After briefly filling the lead vocalist spot in a group with producer HR Jh2Wr!5  
Crump (Beyonce), Nehemiah decided to focus on developing his solo project.   C-#.RI7  
His debut solo album, Public Mind, is the product of all of his life ?eWJa  
experiences, both good and bad.  The mid-tempo track 揟hat Person?is a C6k4g75U2  
celebratory autobiographical account of all that happened to Nehemiah as ?n*fy  
he recognized all that Jesus Christ is.  Another personal song, 揊ly Away,? i!~>\r\6\  
was written for his daughter, Amiah, who died several weeks after being 8 lS($@@{  
born.  It is songs like these that helped the album find its title.   {rGYRn,  
Nehemiah explains, 揟he title of the album is intended to communicate on T^)plWw  
two levels.  First, I wanted to emphasize that I identify with my audience.   <?|6*2_=  
The things that they struggle with, I struggle with.  The things that p{H0dj^|  
trouble them, trouble me.  Second, I wanted to show that this album is not G,DOBA  
simply a collection of songs, it is a window into my mind and life which I ep?:;98|t

Nehemiah lists artists ranging from Commissioned to Boyz II Men to Phil d^aNR Lv  
Collins among his influences and the diversity of his personal palate comes Y+|PY? ~  
through in the diversity of the album.  Nehemiah wrote and produced much of 0BC`iql5  
the disc himself while also teaming with producers and songwriters Derek zzf7S%1I  
Clark (Fred Hammond), Anson Dawkins (Dawkins & Dawkins), Chris Turner swZpWC  
(Singleton抯), Cole Brown (Michelle Williams) and his brother J.B. 5#u.pu  
(Benjiman).  The production and vocals on the project are top notch, there 3X'W

is nothing about Nehemiah抯 debut that sounds like the independent project eY3=|RR  
it truly is.  But while people will definitely respond to the impressive |!b9b(_j9  
vocals and banging tracks Nehemiah hopes they will especially be drawn to {})y^L  
the stories.  揝ome of these songs are birthed out of experiences I抳e ZlM_m >,o  
lived and some of them were born out of the experiences of my community.   (v;A'BjN  
Not all people will be able to relate to the exact details of every song but 6lU|mJ`M  
I believe everyone will find themselves somewhere in each song.  Each of FE6C6dW{  
them speaks of something true and real that we can all identify with.  I 5'9.np F)
