Though Public Mind is Nehemiah抯 first solo release, it is not Nehemiah抯 -Dm.z16  
debut on the music scene.  Raised in his father抯 church, Nehemiah has D;n%sRq(Z  
been performing music in one form or another for most of his life.   1iW9?=a"  
Nehemiah had recorded his first song by the age of 12 and at the age of 15 >Ga1p'8FtU  
he headlined his first concert in his hometown of Portland, Oregon with 9>>}-;$  
the proceeds going toward teenage victims of domestic violence.  It was y5D?Bg|M  
after that concert that Nehemiah was convinced that he wanted to pursue +E[

music professionally. w[G_w:$a

This pursuit has had its ups and downs but each one of them has shaped )t=u(:u]  
who Nehemiah is today, both as an artist and as a person.  The highlights WYzaD}  
of Nehemiah抯 early career included an appearance in the motion picture fb;"J+
  
Reggie抯 Prayer, starring the late football star Reggie White.  In |;-r};  
addition, Nehemiah appeared on a nationally syndicated talk show, took L2$L.@  
his live show to Canada, and opened up for the famed R&B/Gospel group, sYP@>tHC  
Virtue.  The experiences of his teenage years opened the door for MW>28  
Nehemiah to later join Soul, a contemporary gospel group signed to a j]D =\  
subsidiary of the Hendrix record label.  This release spent 9 weeks on ,FVy:"FR  
the Billboard gospel charts and peeked at number 36.  Though the group W+S; Do  
was short-lived it provided Nehemiah the opportunity to tour the states O;sQPG,v  
and establish relationships that would bear fruit in the years to come. [k}\{i>

After briefly filling the lead vocalist spot in a group with producer HR gQDK?aQX  
Crump (Beyonce), Nehemiah decided to focus on developing his solo project.   i?=.; 0[|  
His debut solo album, Public Mind, is the product of all of his life rB?c
m]G=  
experiences, both good and bad.  The mid-tempo track 揟hat Person?is a kweTK]mT  
celebratory autobiographical account of all that happened to Nehemiah as 6x{IY  
he recognized all that Jesus Christ is.  Another personal song, 揊ly Away,? :J-5Q]#  
was written for his daughter, Amiah, who died several weeks after being ]*U')  
born.  It is songs like these that helped the album find its title.   @&B!P3{f  
Nehemiah explains, 揟he title of the album is intended to communicate on ~l6Y<-!  
two levels.  First, I wanted to emphasize that I identify with my audience.   9v2 ;  
The things that they struggle with, I struggle with.  The things that 93DBZqN  
trouble them, trouble me.  Second, I wanted to show that this album is not ,RO(k4  
simply a collection of songs, it is a window into my mind and life which I .p}Kl$K]

Nehemiah lists artists ranging from Commissioned to Boyz II Men to Phil <~+  
Collins among his influences and the diversity of his personal palate comes N+75wtLy&  
through in the diversity of the album.  Nehemiah wrote and produced much of &/?jMyD@  
the disc himself while also teaming with producers and songwriters Derek !l^AKn|  
Clark (Fred Hammond), Anson Dawkins (Dawkins & Dawkins), Chris Turner ~mU_`o  
(Singleton抯), Cole Brown (Michelle Williams) and his brother J.B. kR(=VM JU  
(Benjiman).  The production and vocals on the project are top notch, there O3Mv"Py%  
is nothing about Nehemiah抯 debut that sounds like the independent project nHrCSfK  
it truly is.  But while people will definitely respond to the impressive ~]M"  
vocals and banging tracks Nehemiah hopes they will especially be drawn to :L0W"$  
the stories.  揝ome of these songs are birthed out of experiences I抳e -=IM8Dny  
lived and some of them were born out of the experiences of my community.   )&<ExJQ&  
Not all people will be able to relate to the exact details of every song but V,5}hQJ F  
I believe everyone will find themselves somewhere in each song.  Each of x&vD,|V!  
them speaks of something true and real that we can all identify with.  I LL [>Uu?Y
