Though Public Mind is Nehemiah抯 first solo release, it is not Nehemiah抯 D,]m7yFT  
debut on the music scene.  Raised in his father抯 church, Nehemiah has 2N`Vx3  
been performing music in one form or another for most of his life.   }K0.*+M  
Nehemiah had recorded his first song by the age of 12 and at the age of 15 =yk#z84<  
he headlined his first concert in his hometown of Portland, Oregon with =T;%R^@  
the proceeds going toward teenage victims of domestic violence.  It was >[ywrB ?T  
after that concert that Nehemiah was convinced that he wanted to pursue <4^a(Zh  
music professionally. :N(L7&<

This pursuit has had its ups and downs but each one of them has shaped hnL(~  
who Nehemiah is today, both as an artist and as a person.  The highlights CEt_wKzf  
of Nehemiah抯 early career included an appearance in the motion picture RDk{;VED{  
Reggie抯 Prayer, starring the late football star Reggie White.  In !dGy"-i$h  
addition, Nehemiah appeared on a nationally syndicated talk show, took lYU_uFOs\  
his live show to Canada, and opened up for the famed R&B/Gospel group, p}N'>+@=  
Virtue.  The experiences of his teenage years opened the door for 0G;RMR':5  
Nehemiah to later join Soul, a contemporary gospel group signed to a wN"irXG  
subsidiary of the Hendrix record label.  This release spent 9 weeks on 1,BtOzuRo  
the Billboard gospel charts and peeked at number 36.  Though the group zI(b#eUF  
was short-lived it provided Nehemiah the opportunity to tour the states {U7j  
and establish relationships that would bear fruit in the years to come. Eo)n( Z9

After briefly filling the lead vocalist spot in a group with producer HR mLKwk6I  
Crump (Beyonce), Nehemiah decided to focus on developing his solo project.   >e"1a/2%>&  
His debut solo album, Public Mind, is the product of all of his life ^P(HX  
experiences, both good and bad.  The mid-tempo track 揟hat Person?is a $:F]O$A  
celebratory autobiographical account of all that happened to Nehemiah as d(42ob.Tr  
he recognized all that Jesus Christ is.  Another personal song, 揊ly Away,? 8M8=
uw~#  
was written for his daughter, Amiah, who died several weeks after being

born.  It is songs like these that helped the album find its title.   2A {k>TjQ  
Nehemiah explains, 揟he title of the album is intended to communicate on KYd2=P6  
two levels.  First, I wanted to emphasize that I identify with my audience.   qzsS"=5  
The things that they struggle with, I struggle with.  The things that ^=F

trouble them, trouble me.  Second, I wanted to show that this album is not $nBzYRc"3  
simply a collection of songs, it is a window into my mind and life which I ~~b[X\1

Nehemiah lists artists ranging from Commissioned to Boyz II Men to Phil Sh}AGNE'  
Collins among his influences and the diversity of his personal palate comes cPkN)+K  
through in the diversity of the album.  Nehemiah wrote and produced much of !~"q$T>@  
the disc himself while also teaming with producers and songwriters Derek [uW{Ap~2  
Clark (Fred Hammond), Anson Dawkins (Dawkins & Dawkins), Chris Turner 2U)H2%  
(Singleton抯), Cole Brown (Michelle Williams) and his brother J.B. i{ eDV  
(Benjiman).  The production and vocals on the project are top notch, there kce+aiv|u  
is nothing about Nehemiah抯 debut that sounds like the independent project J*A<F'^F1  
it truly is.  But while people will definitely respond to the impressive aZ@Ke$jD  
vocals and banging tracks Nehemiah hopes they will especially be drawn to 6*{N{]`WZ)  
the stories.  揝ome of these songs are birthed out of experiences I抳e 00n6v;X  
lived and some of them were born out of the experiences of my community.   hA/K>Z  
Not all people will be able to relate to the exact details of every song but cdf8YN0!  
I believe everyone will find themselves somewhere in each song.  Each of r8}GiP0|  
them speaks of something true and real that we can all identify with.  I {{SeD:hx
