Though Public Mind is Nehemiah抯 first solo release, it is not Nehemiah抯 N0N%~3  
debut on the music scene.  Raised in his father抯 church, Nehemiah has tTh4L8fO  
been performing music in one form or another for most of his life.   &-m}w:j=  
Nehemiah had recorded his first song by the age of 12 and at the age of 15 QP>F *A  
he headlined his first concert in his hometown of Portland, Oregon with hf;S#.k  
the proceeds going toward teenage victims of domestic violence.  It was Rm~8n;7oOr  
after that concert that Nehemiah was convinced that he wanted to pursue ?8;WP&

This pursuit has had its ups and downs but each one of them has shaped qLl4t/p  
who Nehemiah is today, both as an artist and as a person.  The highlights {aUv>T"c  
of Nehemiah抯 early career included an appearance in the motion picture We'=/!  
Reggie抯 Prayer, starring the late football star Reggie White.  In ?a'EkZ.dB  
addition, Nehemiah appeared on a nationally syndicated talk show, took TP)o0U  
his live show to Canada, and opened up for the famed R&B/Gospel group, j,z)x[3}  
Virtue.  The experiences of his teenage years opened the door for OF:0jOW  
Nehemiah to later join Soul, a contemporary gospel group signed to a Mhc5<~?  
subsidiary of the Hendrix record label.  This release spent 9 weeks on MM( ,D& Z  
the Billboard gospel charts and peeked at number 36.  Though the group G&4D0f  
was short-lived it provided Nehemiah the opportunity to tour the states -OnKvpeI  
and establish relationships that would bear fruit in the years to come. wNUcL*n

After briefly filling the lead vocalist spot in a group with producer HR fB'Jo<C  
Crump (Beyonce), Nehemiah decided to focus on developing his solo project.   qOa*JA`  
His debut solo album, Public Mind, is the product of all of his life a>+m_]*JZ  
experiences, both good and bad.  The mid-tempo track 揟hat Person?is a n#B}p*G  
celebratory autobiographical account of all that happened to Nehemiah as w4zp%`?D'  
he recognized all that Jesus Christ is.  Another personal song, 揊ly Away,? LLMGs: [  
was written for his daughter, Amiah, who died several weeks after being 'R99m?"  
born.  It is songs like these that helped the album find its title.   6z'0fi|EN  
Nehemiah explains, 揟he title of the album is intended to communicate on 77j"zr7v  
two levels.  First, I wanted to emphasize that I identify with my audience.   C:f^&4 3  
The things that they struggle with, I struggle with.  The things that _,I~1"  
trouble them, trouble me.  Second, I wanted to show that this album is not o@C|*TXN  
simply a collection of songs, it is a window into my mind and life which I +U?73cYN

Nehemiah lists artists ranging from Commissioned to Boyz II Men to Phil ;";>7k/}  
Collins among his influences and the diversity of his personal palate comes j)Z0K

through in the diversity of the album.  Nehemiah wrote and produced much of \gv-2.,  
the disc himself while also teaming with producers and songwriters Derek NGZtlNvh  
Clark (Fred Hammond), Anson Dawkins (Dawkins & Dawkins), Chris Turner Bx.hFEL  
(Singleton抯), Cole Brown (Michelle Williams) and his brother J.B. dKL9}:oUa  
(Benjiman).  The production and vocals on the project are top notch, there TJB4N$-}A  
is nothing about Nehemiah抯 debut that sounds like the independent project eKU4"XTk  
it truly is.  But while people will definitely respond to the impressive Oi{J}2U  
vocals and banging tracks Nehemiah hopes they will especially be drawn to uzLm TmM+  
the stories.  揝ome of these songs are birthed out of experiences I抳e `m$,8f%j6_  
lived and some of them were born out of the experiences of my community.   jwI1 I{x  
Not all people will be able to relate to the exact details of every song but -O?A"  
I believe everyone will find themselves somewhere in each song.  Each of <TSps!(#  
them speaks of something true and real that we can all identify with.  I A5[kYD,_
