Though Public Mind is Nehemiah抯 first solo release, it is not Nehemiah抯 8c6dTT4  
debut on the music scene.  Raised in his father抯 church, Nehemiah has qir/Sa'[  
been performing music in one form or another for most of his life.   OrZ=-9"  
Nehemiah had recorded his first song by the age of 12 and at the age of 15 0G=bu5  
he headlined his first concert in his hometown of Portland, Oregon with u

the proceeds going toward teenage victims of domestic violence.  It was ^uDNArDmj5  
after that concert that Nehemiah was convinced that he wanted to pursue OIqisQ7ZB

This pursuit has had its ups and downs but each one of them has shaped _
gGI&0(VM  
who Nehemiah is today, both as an artist and as a person.  The highlights gq'}LcV  
of Nehemiah抯 early career included an appearance in the motion picture ;VLv2J*
 
Reggie抯 Prayer, starring the late football star Reggie White.  In e\[z Q 2Z3  
addition, Nehemiah appeared on a nationally syndicated talk show, took E/OJ}3Rf  
his live show to Canada, and opened up for the famed R&B/Gospel group, -$; h+9BO  
Virtue.  The experiences of his teenage years opened the door for b,k%
n_&n  
Nehemiah to later join Soul, a contemporary gospel group signed to a rmzM}T\20  
subsidiary of the Hendrix record label.  This release spent 9 weeks on Ub(8ko:8$  
the Billboard gospel charts and peeked at number 36.  Though the group nQ$4W  
was short-lived it provided Nehemiah the opportunity to tour the states m,u5S=3A{!  
and establish relationships that would bear fruit in the years to come.

After briefly filling the lead vocalist spot in a group with producer HR (D?%(f  
Crump (Beyonce), Nehemiah decided to focus on developing his solo project.   #TXN\YNP  
His debut solo album, Public Mind, is the product of all of his life BeNH"Y:E  
experiences, both good and bad.  The mid-tempo track 揟hat Person?is a Gl4(-e'b  
celebratory autobiographical account of all that happened to Nehemiah as ek^=Z`  
he recognized all that Jesus Christ is.  Another personal song, 揊ly Away,? <8JV`dTywC  
was written for his daughter, Amiah, who died several weeks after being C0eqCu)Q  
born.  It is songs like these that helped the album find its title.   YV6@SXy  
Nehemiah explains, 揟he title of the album is intended to communicate on "<

two levels.  First, I wanted to emphasize that I identify with my audience.   E!,+#%O>  
The things that they struggle with, I struggle with.  The things that B5nzkJV<X  
trouble them, trouble me.  Second, I wanted to show that this album is not qG=>eRR  
simply a collection of songs, it is a window into my mind and life which I 9L"Z ~CUL

Nehemiah lists artists ranging from Commissioned to Boyz II Men to Phil #]~l]Eq  
Collins among his influences and the diversity of his personal palate comes &8##)tS(y  
through in the diversity of the album.  Nehemiah wrote and produced much of Y/3CB  
the disc himself while also teaming with producers and songwriters Derek tfSY(cXg'T  
Clark (Fred Hammond), Anson Dawkins (Dawkins & Dawkins), Chris Turner &EELq"5K  
(Singleton抯), Cole Brown (Michelle Williams) and his brother J.B. "5 /i  
(Benjiman).  The production and vocals on the project are top notch, there iq25|{1$  
is nothing about Nehemiah抯 debut that sounds like the independent project &V.\Svm8]  
it truly is.  But while people will definitely respond to the impressive .[@TC@W  
vocals and banging tracks Nehemiah hopes they will especially be drawn to }k`-n32)|  
the stories.  揝ome of these songs are birthed out of experiences I抳e *tWZ.I<<  
lived and some of them were born out of the experiences of my community.   Y`O"+Jr  
Not all people will be able to relate to the exact details of every song but fku\O<1  
I believe everyone will find themselves somewhere in each song.  Each of H
