Though Public Mind is Nehemiah抯 first solo release, it is not Nehemiah抯 th)jEK;Z  
debut on the music scene.  Raised in his father抯 church, Nehemiah has

been performing music in one form or another for most of his life.   H>]x<#uz)  
Nehemiah had recorded his first song by the age of 12 and at the age of 15 /'(P{O>{j  
he headlined his first concert in his hometown of Portland, Oregon with s>X;m.<  
the proceeds going toward teenage victims of domestic violence.  It was 10&A3C(E  
after that concert that Nehemiah was convinced that he wanted to pursue m.*+0NG

This pursuit has had its ups and downs but each one of them has shaped 6>Y}2fT}o3  
who Nehemiah is today, both as an artist and as a person.  The highlights iC]}M  
of Nehemiah抯 early career included an appearance in the motion picture voxlo>:  
Reggie抯 Prayer, starring the late football star Reggie White.  In W8^gPW*c5  
addition, Nehemiah appeared on a nationally syndicated talk show, took g:g>;"B O  
his live show to Canada, and opened up for the famed R&B/Gospel group, "$&F]0  
Virtue.  The experiences of his teenage years opened the door for "<WSEs  
Nehemiah to later join Soul, a contemporary gospel group signed to a 2h!3[{M\  
subsidiary of the Hendrix record label.  This release spent 9 weeks on ?H`LrL/k  
the Billboard gospel charts and peeked at number 36.  Though the group V1G]LM  
was short-lived it provided Nehemiah the opportunity to tour the states N\?iU8w=  
and establish relationships that would bear fruit in the years to come. Y>+D\|%

After briefly filling the lead vocalist spot in a group with producer HR )".gjW8{#L  
Crump (Beyonce), Nehemiah decided to focus on developing his solo project.   i=4bY[y  
His debut solo album, Public Mind, is the product of all of his life QQ9Q[c  
experiences, both good and bad.  The mid-tempo track 揟hat Person?is a QI-3mqL  
celebratory autobiographical account of all that happened to Nehemiah as S;g~xo  
he recognized all that Jesus Christ is.  Another personal song, 揊ly Away,? ?cvv!2B]T  
was written for his daughter, Amiah, who died several weeks after being {IVqV6:  
born.  It is songs like these that helped the album find its title.   b/EvcN8 }  
Nehemiah explains, 揟he title of the album is intended to communicate on WJ*DWyd''  
two levels.  First, I wanted to emphasize that I identify with my audience.   `uj`ixcR  
The things that they struggle with, I struggle with.  The things that =bzTfki  
trouble them, trouble me.  Second, I wanted to show that this album is not ^=ikxZyO  
simply a collection of songs, it is a window into my mind and life which I d<Di;5

Nehemiah lists artists ranging from Commissioned to Boyz II Men to Phil lV?SvXe
 
Collins among his influences and the diversity of his personal palate comes [F%\1xh  
through in the diversity of the album.  Nehemiah wrote and produced much of %YXC-E3@O  
the disc himself while also teaming with producers and songwriters Derek w~9gZ&hdp  
Clark (Fred Hammond), Anson Dawkins (Dawkins & Dawkins), Chris Turner o\#C] pp  
(Singleton抯), Cole Brown (Michelle Williams) and his brother J.B. R&QT  'i  
(Benjiman).  The production and vocals on the project are top notch, there yBoZ@9Do  
is nothing about Nehemiah抯 debut that sounds like the independent project ]V_9[=%  
it truly is.  But while people will definitely respond to the impressive = 7?'S#  
vocals and banging tracks Nehemiah hopes they will especially be drawn to m8?(.BJ%  
the stories.  揝ome of these songs are birthed out of experiences I抳e KK+Mxoj,  
lived and some of them were born out of the experiences of my community.   8yo9$~u;  
Not all people will be able to relate to the exact details of every song but $ ]HIYYs  
I believe everyone will find themselves somewhere in each song.  Each of m3D'7*U  
them speaks of something true and real that we can all identify with.  I  0c{N)
