Though Public Mind is Nehemiah抯 first solo release, it is not Nehemiah抯

debut on the music scene.  Raised in his father抯 church, Nehemiah has <^8OYnp  
been performing music in one form or another for most of his life.   ?Ye%k  
Nehemiah had recorded his first song by the age of 12 and at the age of 15 ]O+Nl5*  
he headlined his first concert in his hometown of Portland, Oregon with +Nka,C^O"  
the proceeds going toward teenage victims of domestic violence.  It was ;!>>C0s"  
after that concert that Nehemiah was convinced that he wanted to pursue /3~}=b

This pursuit has had its ups and downs but each one of them has shaped ]}AyDy6C  
who Nehemiah is today, both as an artist and as a person.  The highlights v8A{q  
of Nehemiah抯 early career included an appearance in the motion picture DAd$u1  
Reggie抯 Prayer, starring the late football star Reggie White.  In 9, 792b  
addition, Nehemiah appeared on a nationally syndicated talk show, took N{zou?+  
his live show to Canada, and opened up for the famed R&B/Gospel group, 2?owXcbx  
Virtue.  The experiences of his teenage years opened the door for fP1fm  
Nehemiah to later join Soul, a contemporary gospel group signed to a TUVqQ\oF:  
subsidiary of the Hendrix record label.  This release spent 9 weeks on e9?y0vT//  
the Billboard gospel charts and peeked at number 36.  Though the group rHgrCMW  
was short-lived it provided Nehemiah the opportunity to tour the states 9'JkLgz;d+  
and establish relationships that would bear fruit in the years to come. DzCb'#

After briefly filling the lead vocalist spot in a group with producer HR |n&EbOmgf  
Crump (Beyonce), Nehemiah decided to focus on developing his solo project.   ^kj%Ekt7  
His debut solo album, Public Mind, is the product of all of his life 6~q"#94  
experiences, both good and bad.  The mid-tempo track 揟hat Person?is a H\e<fi%Q  
celebratory autobiographical account of all that happened to Nehemiah as QgX[?2  
he recognized all that Jesus Christ is.  Another personal song, 揊ly Away,? N&lKo}hk  
was written for his daughter, Amiah, who died several weeks after being \[x4  
born.  It is songs like these that helped the album find its title.   9L9mi<,  
Nehemiah explains, 揟he title of the album is intended to communicate on <i1P~  
two levels.  First, I wanted to emphasize that I identify with my audience.   q0 8  
The things that they struggle with, I struggle with.  The things that $d7{q3K&1  
trouble them, trouble me.  Second, I wanted to show that this album is not S8Yh>j8-  
simply a collection of songs, it is a window into my mind and life which I r.zJ/T

Nehemiah lists artists ranging from Commissioned to Boyz II Men to Phil T?FR@. Rm  
Collins among his influences and the diversity of his personal palate comes Rd*/J~TK  
through in the diversity of the album.  Nehemiah wrote and produced much of "mkTCR^]e  
the disc himself while also teaming with producers and songwriters Derek ,cFp5tV$  
Clark (Fred Hammond), Anson Dawkins (Dawkins & Dawkins), Chris Turner (tP^F)}e5  
(Singleton抯), Cole Brown (Michelle Williams) and his brother J.B. o>Z+=&BZ@a  
(Benjiman).  The production and vocals on the project are top notch, there $(%t^8{a~G  
is nothing about Nehemiah抯 debut that sounds like the independent project sQe>LNp,G  
it truly is.  But while people will definitely respond to the impressive 5=Y\d,SS"  
vocals and banging tracks Nehemiah hopes they will especially be drawn to bDPT1A`F  
the stories.  揝ome of these songs are birthed out of experiences I抳e gs77")K&  
lived and some of them were born out of the experiences of my community.   /-ky'S9  
Not all people will be able to relate to the exact details of every song but pF"IDC  
I believe everyone will find themselves somewhere in each song.  Each of O8ZHI

them speaks of something true and real that we can all identify with.  I PK* $
