Though Public Mind is Nehemiah抯 first solo release, it is not Nehemiah抯 m(sXk}e;1  
debut on the music scene.  Raised in his father抯 church, Nehemiah has xk~Nmb}  
been performing music in one form or another for most of his life.   <M[U#Q~?~e  
Nehemiah had recorded his first song by the age of 12 and at the age of 15 +C7T]&5s  
he headlined his first concert in his hometown of Portland, Oregon with cQpnEO&SL  
the proceeds going toward teenage victims of domestic violence.  It was kReG:  
after that concert that Nehemiah was convinced that he wanted to pursue Uedvc5><t

This pursuit has had its ups and downs but each one of them has shaped iRmQ5ezk  
who Nehemiah is today, both as an artist and as a person.  The highlights CBD_

of Nehemiah抯 early career included an appearance in the motion picture kRIB<@{  
Reggie抯 Prayer, starring the late football star Reggie White.  In F@YV]u>N  
addition, Nehemiah appeared on a nationally syndicated talk show, took |;;!8VO3J  
his live show to Canada, and opened up for the famed R&B/Gospel group, f1+qXMs  
Virtue.  The experiences of his teenage years opened the door for @Z\2*1y6  
Nehemiah to later join Soul, a contemporary gospel group signed to a Y9}8M27vQG  
subsidiary of the Hendrix record label.  This release spent 9 weeks on h5@j`{  
the Billboard gospel charts and peeked at number 36.  Though the group Ri?\m!o  
was short-lived it provided Nehemiah the opportunity to tour the states e-D4'lu  
and establish relationships that would bear fruit in the years to come. F!KV\?eM$

After briefly filling the lead vocalist spot in a group with producer HR ]jM^Z.mI+  
Crump (Beyonce), Nehemiah decided to focus on developing his solo project.   J+<p+(^*v  
His debut solo album, Public Mind, is the product of all of his life T%CxvZ  
experiences, both good and bad.  The mid-tempo track 揟hat Person?is a [5pCL0<c@  
celebratory autobiographical account of all that happened to Nehemiah as QV,E#(\5  
he recognized all that Jesus Christ is.  Another personal song, 揊ly Away,? nx4P^PC  
was written for his daughter, Amiah, who died several weeks after being tGqCt9;<  
born.  It is songs like these that helped the album find its title.   {^RG% &S  
Nehemiah explains, 揟he title of the album is intended to communicate on w4MwD?i]R  
two levels.  First, I wanted to emphasize that I identify with my audience.   Nh)[rx  
The things that they struggle with, I struggle with.  The things that VTh$a_P>  
trouble them, trouble me.  Second, I wanted to show that this album is not 5A_4\YpDR  
simply a collection of songs, it is a window into my mind and life which I `n-vjjG%#

Nehemiah lists artists ranging from Commissioned to Boyz II Men to Phil ?J|4l[x  
Collins among his influences and the diversity of his personal palate comes 'm1.X-$V  
through in the diversity of the album.  Nehemiah wrote and produced much of /! ^P)yU,  
the disc himself while also teaming with producers and songwriters Derek ~mILA->F  
Clark (Fred Hammond), Anson Dawkins (Dawkins & Dawkins), Chris Turner _C+DBA  
(Singleton抯), Cole Brown (Michelle Williams) and his brother J.B. MguL$W&l  
(Benjiman).  The production and vocals on the project are top notch, there aMCO"66b  
is nothing about Nehemiah抯 debut that sounds like the independent project j|'R$|  
it truly is.  But while people will definitely respond to the impressive {},;-%xE  
vocals and banging tracks Nehemiah hopes they will especially be drawn to Sr y,@p)  
the stories.  揝ome of these songs are birthed out of experiences I抳e B7"Fp  
lived and some of them were born out of the experiences of my community.   lpEDPvD_Vm  
Not all people will be able to relate to the exact details of every song but kHU"AD}.  
I believe everyone will find themselves somewhere in each song.  Each of _Dq Qfc%  
them speaks of something true and real that we can all identify with.  I !7` [i
