Though Public Mind is Nehemiah抯 first solo release, it is not Nehemiah抯 x&3!z[m@@  
debut on the music scene.  Raised in his father抯 church, Nehemiah has

Nehemiah had recorded his first song by the age of 12 and at the age of 15 8$avPD3jx  
he headlined his first concert in his hometown of Portland, Oregon with sg12C  
the proceeds going toward teenage victims of domestic violence.  It was SdUt

after that concert that Nehemiah was convinced that he wanted to pursue *(ex:1sW

This pursuit has had its ups and downs but each one of them has shaped 8?']W\)  
who Nehemiah is today, both as an artist and as a person.  The highlights HMNjQ 1

of Nehemiah抯 early career included an appearance in the motion picture *[*#cMZ   
Reggie抯 Prayer, starring the late football star Reggie White.  In 6G"AP~|0  
addition, Nehemiah appeared on a nationally syndicated talk show, took *BVkviqxz  
his live show to Canada, and opened up for the famed R&B/Gospel group, ).eT~e Gj  
Virtue.  The experiences of his teenage years opened the door for *IzcW6 [9  
Nehemiah to later join Soul, a contemporary gospel group signed to a ^SCZ  
subsidiary of the Hendrix record label.  This release spent 9 weeks on `>RJ*_aKEI  
the Billboard gospel charts and peeked at number 36.  Though the group <\x/Y$jm0n  
was short-lived it provided Nehemiah the opportunity to tour the states cHK)e2r  
and establish relationships that would bear fruit in the years to come. >HnD'y*

After briefly filling the lead vocalist spot in a group with producer HR \()\pp~4  
Crump (Beyonce), Nehemiah decided to focus on developing his solo project.   z Q NL){  
His debut solo album, Public Mind, is the product of all of his life ]sO})  
experiences, both good and bad.  The mid-tempo track 揟hat Person?is a "}DuAs  
celebratory autobiographical account of all that happened to Nehemiah as JGIN<J85e  
he recognized all that Jesus Christ is.  Another personal song, 揊ly Away,? ~\hA-l36  
was written for his daughter, Amiah, who died several weeks after being I/9ZUxQCyG  
born.  It is songs like these that helped the album find its title.   %" $.2O@  
Nehemiah explains, 揟he title of the album is intended to communicate on #{(?a.:  
two levels.  First, I wanted to emphasize that I identify with my audience.   P,!W\N%3  
The things that they struggle with, I struggle with.  The things that ?/"@WP9  
trouble them, trouble me.  Second, I wanted to show that this album is not MxxYMR  
simply a collection of songs, it is a window into my mind and life which I _jef{j

Nehemiah lists artists ranging from Commissioned to Boyz II Men to Phil ld94ek  
Collins among his influences and the diversity of his personal palate comes 7"=  
through in the diversity of the album.  Nehemiah wrote and produced much of ,oDZ:"

Clark (Fred Hammond), Anson Dawkins (Dawkins & Dawkins), Chris Turner j._9;HifZ

is nothing about Nehemiah抯 debut that sounds like the independent project E?&

it truly is.  But while people will definitely respond to the impressive 'q1)W'  
vocals and banging tracks Nehemiah hopes they will especially be drawn to ?7G?uk]3,@  
the stories.  揝ome of these songs are birthed out of experiences I抳e xXZ$#z\Z,  
lived and some of them were born out of the experiences of my community.   {Cs~5jYz  
Not all people will be able to relate to the exact details of every song but G5zZf~r  
I believe everyone will find themselves somewhere in each song.  Each of ksY^w+>(!  
them speaks of something true and real that we can all identify with.  I -w 2!k
