Though Public Mind is Nehemiah抯 first solo release, it is not Nehemiah抯 045\i[l=  
debut on the music scene.  Raised in his father抯 church, Nehemiah has p

been performing music in one form or another for most of his life.   !sG"n&uZq  
Nehemiah had recorded his first song by the age of 12 and at the age of 15 !7c'<[+Hm  
he headlined his first concert in his hometown of Portland, Oregon with |[ocyUsxX  
the proceeds going toward teenage victims of domestic violence.  It was `j:M)2:*y  
after that concert that Nehemiah was convinced that he wanted to pursue W>:kq_gT

This pursuit has had its ups and downs but each one of them has shaped lM+ xU;  
who Nehemiah is today, both as an artist and as a person.  The highlights 3Ta>Ki  
of Nehemiah抯 early career included an appearance in the motion picture HEpM4xe$  
Reggie抯 Prayer, starring the late football star Reggie White.  In gVA; `<  
addition, Nehemiah appeared on a nationally syndicated talk show, took =)*JbwQ   
his live show to Canada, and opened up for the famed R&B/Gospel group, .+vd6Uc5a  
Virtue.  The experiences of his teenage years opened the door for XNlhu^jh  
Nehemiah to later join Soul, a contemporary gospel group signed to a C fSl 54  
subsidiary of the Hendrix record label.  This release spent 9 weeks on T<M?PlED  
the Billboard gospel charts and peeked at number 36.  Though the group 9gR.RwR X  
was short-lived it provided Nehemiah the opportunity to tour the states !o<ICHHH  
and establish relationships that would bear fruit in the years to come. u}m.}Mws

After briefly filling the lead vocalist spot in a group with producer HR

Crump (Beyonce), Nehemiah decided to focus on developing his solo project.   y1u9B;Fd  
His debut solo album, Public Mind, is the product of all of his life ?@3&dk~ni  
experiences, both good and bad.  The mid-tempo track 揟hat Person?is a !&JiNn('  
celebratory autobiographical account of all that happened to Nehemiah as }!=U^A)  
he recognized all that Jesus Christ is.  Another personal song, 揊ly Away,? 97S? ;T  
was written for his daughter, Amiah, who died several weeks after being C#$6O8

born.  It is songs like these that helped the album find its title.   P\T|[%E'  
Nehemiah explains, 揟he title of the album is intended to communicate on 5&*zY)UL  
two levels.  First, I wanted to emphasize that I identify with my audience.   ;Z4o{(/zU  
The things that they struggle with, I struggle with.  The things that <tW:LU(!  
trouble them, trouble me.  Second, I wanted to show that this album is not t9Vb~ Ubdb  
simply a collection of songs, it is a window into my mind and life which I YLmjEs%

Nehemiah lists artists ranging from Commissioned to Boyz II Men to Phil EZ{/]gCK  
Collins among his influences and the diversity of his personal palate comes Of#K:`1@  
through in the diversity of the album.  Nehemiah wrote and produced much of esteFLm`6  
the disc himself while also teaming with producers and songwriters Derek z^3Q.4Qc6^  
Clark (Fred Hammond), Anson Dawkins (Dawkins & Dawkins), Chris Turner '%ebcL  
(Singleton抯), Cole Brown (Michelle Williams) and his brother J.B. Efvq?cG&  
(Benjiman).  The production and vocals on the project are top notch, there ~?-qZ<9/  
is nothing about Nehemiah抯 debut that sounds like the independent project ctK65h{Eo  
it truly is.  But while people will definitely respond to the impressive )2]a8JVf  
vocals and banging tracks Nehemiah hopes they will especially be drawn to obYn&\6  
the stories.  揝ome of these songs are birthed out of experiences I抳e KK$ a;/  
lived and some of them were born out of the experiences of my community.   [ t$AavU.  
Not all people will be able to relate to the exact details of every song but 4(8<w cL  
I believe everyone will find themselves somewhere in each song.  Each of m r2S!  
them speaks of something true and real that we can all identify with.  I /W0E(8:C)
