Though Public Mind is Nehemiah抯 first solo release, it is not Nehemiah抯 Ezw<  
debut on the music scene.  Raised in his father抯 church, Nehemiah has

been performing music in one form or another for most of his life.   ;!/g`*?  
Nehemiah had recorded his first song by the age of 12 and at the age of 15 @RVj~J.A  
he headlined his first concert in his hometown of Portland, Oregon with Pt%Ey

the proceeds going toward teenage victims of domestic violence.  It was CKRnkTTiV  
after that concert that Nehemiah was convinced that he wanted to pursue F%e5j9X`  
music professionally. uze5u\

This pursuit has had its ups and downs but each one of them has shaped g2&P  
who Nehemiah is today, both as an artist and as a person.  The highlights u69s}yZ  
of Nehemiah抯 early career included an appearance in the motion picture *Mr'/qp,  
Reggie抯 Prayer, starring the late football star Reggie White.  In 5JRj'G0I  
addition, Nehemiah appeared on a nationally syndicated talk show, took &+F}$8,  
his live show to Canada, and opened up for the famed R&B/Gospel group, \"hP*DJ"  
Virtue.  The experiences of his teenage years opened the door for r#'E;Yx  
Nehemiah to later join Soul, a contemporary gospel group signed to a eWAgYe2  
subsidiary of the Hendrix record label.  This release spent 9 weeks on BZWGXzOFh  
the Billboard gospel charts and peeked at number 36.  Though the group :j
ioF{,  
was short-lived it provided Nehemiah the opportunity to tour the states AoN|&o  
and establish relationships that would bear fruit in the years to come. 1c03<(FCd

After briefly filling the lead vocalist spot in a group with producer HR Lk]/{t0  
Crump (Beyonce), Nehemiah decided to focus on developing his solo project.   u}IQ)Ma  
His debut solo album, Public Mind, is the product of all of his life 5QJ

experiences, both good and bad.  The mid-tempo track 揟hat Person?is a BpZ17"\z  
celebratory autobiographical account of all that happened to Nehemiah as @k,}>Tk  
he recognized all that Jesus Christ is.  Another personal song, 揊ly Away,? LDv>hzo  
was written for his daughter, Amiah, who died several weeks after being )1S"D~j-  
born.  It is songs like these that helped the album find its title.   \{M/Do:  
Nehemiah explains, 揟he title of the album is intended to communicate on 5Gsjt+ o  
two levels.  First, I wanted to emphasize that I identify with my audience.   [+Y;w`;Fq  
The things that they struggle with, I struggle with.  The things that Nc[V kJ]  
trouble them, trouble me.  Second, I wanted to show that this album is not `z!?

simply a collection of songs, it is a window into my mind and life which I _i+7O^=d6X

Nehemiah lists artists ranging from Commissioned to Boyz II Men to Phil lC(g&(\{  
Collins among his influences and the diversity of his personal palate comes l>:\% ol  
through in the diversity of the album.  Nehemiah wrote and produced much of wZ =*ejo  
the disc himself while also teaming with producers and songwriters Derek K+J fU J  
Clark (Fred Hammond), Anson Dawkins (Dawkins & Dawkins), Chris Turner ~'L`RJR  
(Singleton抯), Cole Brown (Michelle Williams) and his brother J.B. E'4dI:  
(Benjiman).  The production and vocals on the project are top notch, there #^&.*'z%z  
is nothing about Nehemiah抯 debut that sounds like the independent project 66shr  
it truly is.  But while people will definitely respond to the impressive ,2_!hm/  
vocals and banging tracks Nehemiah hopes they will especially be drawn to 8ORr  
the stories.  揝ome of these songs are birthed out of experiences I抳e 5Dlx]_  
lived and some of them were born out of the experiences of my community.   aXO|%qX  
Not all people will be able to relate to the exact details of every song but r:uW(<EP^  
I believe everyone will find themselves somewhere in each song.  Each of Di8;Tq  
them speaks of something true and real that we can all identify with.  I \mp5G&+/Q
