Though Public Mind is Nehemiah抯 first solo release, it is not Nehemiah抯 K~AR*1??[  
debut on the music scene.  Raised in his father抯 church, Nehemiah has '10oK {m$  
been performing music in one form or another for most of his life.   (zgW%{V@  
Nehemiah had recorded his first song by the age of 12 and at the age of 15 0xxg|;h.,g  
he headlined his first concert in his hometown of Portland, Oregon with d6'{rje(  
the proceeds going toward teenage victims of domestic violence.  It was @OV|]u  
after that concert that Nehemiah was convinced that he wanted to pursue *AG#3

This pursuit has had its ups and downs but each one of them has shaped `7[EKOJ3g  
who Nehemiah is today, both as an artist and as a person.  The highlights w1hPc!I  
of Nehemiah抯 early career included an appearance in the motion picture kw#;w=\>R{  
Reggie抯 Prayer, starring the late football star Reggie White.  In D>HOn^   
addition, Nehemiah appeared on a nationally syndicated talk show, took 4A8;tU$&  
his live show to Canada, and opened up for the famed R&B/Gospel group, ?%O(mC]u&  
Virtue.  The experiences of his teenage years opened the door for syWG'(>  
Nehemiah to later join Soul, a contemporary gospel group signed to a O#F  
subsidiary of the Hendrix record label.  This release spent 9 weeks on Q9~*<I> h;  
the Billboard gospel charts and peeked at number 36.  Though the group \DYWy*p
e  
was short-lived it provided Nehemiah the opportunity to tour the states W }8'Pf  
and establish relationships that would bear fruit in the years to come. qlb- jL

After briefly filling the lead vocalist spot in a group with producer HR ABQa 3{v  
Crump (Beyonce), Nehemiah decided to focus on developing his solo project.   OjFLPGRCh  
His debut solo album, Public Mind, is the product of all of his life G~Hzec{#tg  
experiences, both good and bad.  The mid-tempo track 揟hat Person?is a eFaO7mz5V%  
celebratory autobiographical account of all that happened to Nehemiah as "]"|"0#i  
he recognized all that Jesus Christ is.  Another personal song, 揊ly Away,? 1M}5>V{  
was written for his daughter, Amiah, who died several weeks after being /.3}aj;6  
born.  It is songs like these that helped the album find its title.   RZHd9v$  
Nehemiah explains, 揟he title of the album is intended to communicate on IEXt:  
two levels.  First, I wanted to emphasize that I identify with my audience.   '9S8}q  
The things that they struggle with, I struggle with.  The things that ! ='rc-E  
trouble them, trouble me.  Second, I wanted to show that this album is not x,rlrxI  
simply a collection of songs, it is a window into my mind and life which I >64P6P;S

Nehemiah lists artists ranging from Commissioned to Boyz II Men to Phil U@HK+C"M|  
Collins among his influences and the diversity of his personal palate comes v16JgycM  
through in the diversity of the album.  Nehemiah wrote and produced much of n2]/v{E;/  
the disc himself while also teaming with producers and songwriters Derek hM;lp1l  
Clark (Fred Hammond), Anson Dawkins (Dawkins & Dawkins), Chris Turner <QA6/Ef7  
(Singleton抯), Cole Brown (Michelle Williams) and his brother J.B. Jl5c [F  
(Benjiman).  The production and vocals on the project are top notch, there XWUWY  
is nothing about Nehemiah抯 debut that sounds like the independent project M@`;JjtSA  
it truly is.  But while people will definitely respond to the impressive pnjXf.g"O  
vocals and banging tracks Nehemiah hopes they will especially be drawn to eZSNNgD<:  
the stories.  揝ome of these songs are birthed out of experiences I抳e =osv3>&q  
lived and some of them were born out of the experiences of my community.   e7m*rh%5>  
Not all people will be able to relate to the exact details of every song but JTr vnA  
I believe everyone will find themselves somewhere in each song.  Each of P+s!|7'  
them speaks of something true and real that we can all identify with.  I nSW=LjrO~<
