The one and only Michael Buble's eagerly awaited new CD jzDPn<WQ
"Call Me Irresponsible' will be released on May 1st, it s!YX<V
was confirmed by his record label, Reprise Records. The *B&i`tq
first single from the new album, the Buble penned N/{=j
"Everything", has just been released and will be performed MJe/ \
by the artist on The Today Show on the day of the release. ?cz7s28a

The Vancouver native, whose collective worldwide record 8sDw:wTC
sales are over 11 million units, is also scheduled to X%*BiI
begin a global concert tour in Reno, Nevada on July 13th fvTp9T\f3
with stops including Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, ~rOvVi&4
Atlanta, Los Angeles and Seattle. e'npa*.e

Call Me Irresponsible highlights include Buble's energy CWp>8@v
infused interpretations on standards from a variety of [C 7X#|
eras including songs by such greats as Leonard Cohen, Eric <MhODC")
Clapton, Cy Coleman, Gamble and Huff, Harold Arlen, Johnny Aj\m57e,6
Mercer and others. QxEmuiN

Produced by David Foster and Humberto Gattica, tJ d/u QJ
Irresponsible includes a touching Buble written ballad ri"=)]
called "Lost," along with a rocking duet with Boys II Men x51p'bNy
of the old Mel Torme' hit "Coming Home Baby." Brazilian !_o1;GzK
singer Ivan Lens also makes a guest appearance on the 2V9"{F?
Clapton written "Wonderful Tonight". The pairing of these !h1|B7N
two voices from two totally different generations =hh,yi
magnifies Buble's summation of this record-love is @&G %cW(
universal and ageless. bsc b
aFrZ ;_
As for the album, Buble says, "It's all about love. We're 0_>1CW+X
either in love, dreaming about love recovering from it, pDr/8HEh
wishing for it or reflecting on it. That's what this kbz+6LcV
record is about." 2U+wiE|

Michael BubleThe Grammy-nominated, four-time Juno Award R<h:>.M
winning Buble arrived on the music scene with a "wV7PSbM
groundbreaking 2003 self-titled debut CD and embarked on uZ1G,9
what would virtually become a perpetual concert tour "[L+LPET
circling the globe continuously for the last five years. ]Ah<kq2sk
His multi platinum follow-up, "It's Time," sold over 5.5 &s.-p_4w^D
million copies and has remained on the Billboard r)qow.+&
Traditional Jazz charts for a staggering two years and in $I4J Kh
the No. 1 slot for over 80 weeks, holding the all time g fv?#mp
record. His reputation as one of the world's consumate :NwFJc
'entertainers' is by now legendary. "Buble's stage P]4u`&
presence is magnetic. He has charisma, energy and when he 14-uy.0[
sings, words float out of his mouth; he swivels like Elvis @DR?^ qp
with a flash of a tap dancing Fred Astaire. He has fun," It'PWqZtG
raved the London Sunday Times Magazine. :,^x?'HK
Rwmr[g
Ask Michael Bubl?how he felt going in to record his third w01\KV
studio album, Call Me Irresponsible, and this artist with :(jovse\
11 million albums sold and two Grammy nominations under NTM.Vj -_h
his belt can sum it up in one word. Wc##.qU
d{'u97GDc
"Terrified," he says simply. Terrified? gWjz3ob
|2X+( F Ed
"Completely, because I knew that it had to be better than ]'i}}/}u2
the first two - that it had to show growth without /LCRi
alienating anyone, and that's a tough line. So I sat there HFj@NRE6
from the very beginning and came up with the songs, put a=^>A1=
together the skeleton, and thought about what arrangers I h7\16j
would hire. I even ended up at the mastering session, pvqbk2BO
which artists rarely attend. I wanted to be involved in 98l-
every aspect because I wanted it to be conceptually 2;ogkPv'
beautiful." W2,Uw1\:1
+^aM(4K\
Bubl?has certainly achieved success on that front. As @F5QgO J&r
with his previous two 143/Reprise bestsellers, 2003's ?0+J"FH# W
self-titled debut and 2005's multi-platinum follow-up It's {1wjIo"ptg
Time, Call Me Irresponsible boasts more of Bubl?s g>f_'7F&
buoyant, modern interpretations of standards from a H]f8W]"c[
variety of eras, including songs by such greats as Leonard M059"X="
Cohen, Eric Clapton, Cy Coleman, Gamble and Huff, and -S}^b6WL
others, as well as two self-penned originals, including pe`&zI_`?
the first single, the uplifting love song called ^w}BXVn
"Everything." UbwD2>
9fq CE619a
But it's hardly business as usual for this Vancouver n<7R6)j6
native. It never is for Bubl? whose irrepressible spirit, pXxpEv
engaging humor, and confident charisma once led the New +@C|u'
York Times to call him "an entertainer who is completely !='&#@7u
at home on the stage." XM*%n8q7#N
+Xr87x;
Michael BubleHis new CD, which he calls "my remark on the h IUO=f
state of love," contains a depth of feeling that will [E%Ov0OC
surprise and delight long-term fans and impress those new I9r> 3?
to his music. "To me, what's different about this CD is p8u -3
that it has a certain raw emotion because I recorded many c f1GA
of these songs live in the studio." Bubl?introduces the jJY!;f
electrifying, impeccably orchestrated set to follow with a s?)6
the opening track, Cy Coleman's "The Best Is Yet To Come," D~<0CQ3n.
(made famous by Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and others). >9]i#So^
Then there's the exhilarating, salsa-flavored "It Had 4ze4{a^
Better Be Tonight," written by Johnny Mercer and Henry L{i|OK^e
Mancini, which Bubl?attacks with a hot-blooded Rlf#)4
vengeance-"another very sexy songand edgy." From there, *[['X%f
he takes on "Me and Mrs. Jones," the 1972 Gamble and Huff }#f~"-O
classic popularized by soul singer Billy Paul. "David baM@HpMhM
(Foster) brought it to me, I'd never actually heard it /3v`2=b
before," Bubl?says. "We wanted it to be authentic and L[:b\ O/p,
tell the story." Next up is Leonard Cohen's "I'm Your Man" 3/((7O[
from the Canadian singer/songwriter's 1988 album of the < G:G/
same name. "I always thought it was a wonderful song - ob.=QQQs
desperate, sexy, and dark," Bubl?says. "I actually called w!^{Q'/,Q
Leonard and told him I was afraid of performing it live. PP)-g0^@
When he asked me why, I said because he'd written too sexy W[tX%B
of a song and I was afraid men were going to throw their ::rKW *?
underpants at me. He just laughed and said, 'I wouldn't -}*YfwK
worry too much about that.'" MXU8QVSY"
41`&/9:"_M
Then there's a swinging, hep-cat version of Mel Torm?s 4m$Xjj`vE
1962 pop hit "Comin' Home Baby," featuring vocals from "*aL(R
Philly soul faves Boys II Men; and a sentimental, dD8f`*"*=
self-penned ballad "Lost," co-written with Chang and HBnnIbEtF'
Canadian singer-songwriter Jann Arden. "It's an anthem for )[hQK_e]
star-crossed lovers," Bubl?says. "Sometimes relationships 5S ?+03h~
don't work out because love isn't enough, but that doesn't [S!_ubP5
mean you have to discard the person. There is a way to end )o8]MWT\;
a relationship and still be there when they need you. pO_L,~<
That's basically what it's about." ({AqL#x`u
| sio:QP
A languid, emotional rendition of Eric Clapton's ballad =XT}&D6
"Wonderful Tonight," on which Bubl?duets with Brazilian "V/6 nuCo
singer-songwriter Ivan Lins, whose work has been covered j5>3Td.
by everyone from Sarah Vaughan to Ella Fitzgerald follows. v= I 'rx
"I've always been very sentimental about that song," Bubl? {m+(j (6-
says. "What is interesting about that track is here I am, o=VDO,eS
a 31-year-old guy from Canada who's singing a song that 7Z<ba^r}
means so much to me with a 61-year-old man from Brazil, 6>Szxkz
who's singing in his own language but it means the exact >A;9Ee"&
same thing to both of us." /? j vv&
Lk|%2XGO&
Other highlight's include two of Bubl?s original songs, nE3'm[)
including the acoustic-guitar driven "Everything," S2 0L@e"U
co-written with Amy Foster-Gillies and Alan Chang (who @eGJ_ J
also co-wrote Bubl?s touching hit ballad "Home" off It's 2U;ImC1g
Time) and produced by fellow Canadian Bob Rock (Bon Jovi, S @'fmjA'
Metallica, Motley Crue, Bryan Adams). "I wrote that song &qP&=( $
about the great happiness of real love, but at the same u;qBW uO
time I was making a statement about the world," Bubl? xui.63/
says. "We're living in really crazy times, and I wanted to qj5V<c;h%W
say that no matter what's happening, this person in my jQs"8[=s
life is what really makes it worthwhile." 8E| Nf
>1Y',0v
Michael BubleRounding out Call Me Irresponsible is Frank Xr@]7: ,
Sinatra's "That's Life," which, in Bubl?s hands, becomes ,D`iV| (
a powerhouse complete with a full choir. "I brought the IPhV|7
song to a wonderful guy named Mervyn Warren, from the 5h2@n0
acappella group Take 6 and said, 'I want to take this to _#/zH~V%
church; I want to make it a huge gospel tune.' So he 2Y@:Vgg
brought in a choir and I love it. It's one of my favorite gOA
things about the record." RMx$]wn_
jLs-v
To help him capture the intensity in the songs' meanings, ~)JNevLZ
Bubl?turned to his long-standing team of producers, which O+o1R24JI
include 14-time Grammy winner David Foster (Barbra VS lIeZ
Streisand, Celine Dion, Josh Groban) and producer/engineer #JH#Qg
Humberto Gatica (Elton John, Destiny's Child, Michael 26,!HmtC
Jackson). "We definitely have a great working relationship CcZ\QOet&C
where I think I interfere just enough," Bubl?says with a @sAT#[j
laugh. "I mean, David is the greatest producer in the crt )}L8-
world. They're both so amazing, I couldn't do it without +JMB98+l
them." iwl\&uNQU
[y}0X^9,E
Foster first discovered Bubl?seven years ago when he ;r_YEPlZ
caught the aspiring star performing at the wedding of 2 R !1Vl
former Canadian Prime Minster's daughter. The son of a =;9*gDfD
British Columbia-based salmon and herring fisherman, Bubl? OXs-gC{b
spent the months his parents were away with his c.u$NnDU6
music-loving Italian grandfather, who introduced him to wYrb P11
the singers who would become Bubl?s idols: Bobby Darin, m|)Mc VV
Dean Martin, Sinatra, Ray Charles, and Elvis Presley. C[ ehw
"These guys were triple threats," he says. "They could I'h6!N"
sing, they could dance, they could act. They were 0P<bS?e<l
entertainers, and I believe that's a lost art now." Lii,L}
\lnpsf
Bubl?honed his skills as a showman through years of Ls#= R
performing in hotel lounges and smoky bars - gigs his ]iyJ>fC
grandfather, a plumber, helped the underage singer secure ESl-k2
by trading his plumbing services. By the time Foster met u2SnL$A7
him 2000, Bubl?already knew exactly what he brought to #l6L7u0~wC
the table - a warm, engaging voice and unassailable taste s^]F4'
in music. His debut album was an international smash, WvN!8*XFM
going Top Ten in the U.K. and Canada, and earning him his y^#jM
first Juno award for Best New Talent in 2004. The 8#9 di
follow-up, It's Time, sold more than 5.5 million copies, Su0[f/4m.Q
and has remained on the Billboard Traditional Jazz charts $\|$ekil4
for a staggering two years, and in the Number 1 slot for p1 9j
more than 80 weeks, an all-time record. &!uN N|W
rTiW&#
But along with his passion for creating great music in the 4|Dxyb>pS
studio, performing on stage is pure paradise for Michael Z)6gh{B08
Bubl? "I just love getting in front of people," he says. s!Xj'H7K
"It's so important to be in touch with your audience. U}55;4^LX
They've paid their money. I want them to be entertained. O3JN?25s
If they want to cry or laugh or dance or sing or yell, SEn-8ZF
they can do whatever they want. My responsibility is just Rl7V~dUY
to take them away." +)#d+@-
