The one and only Michael Buble's eagerly awaited new CD =/6rX"\P
"Call Me Irresponsible' will be released on May 1st, it AvxP0@.`
was confirmed by his record label, Reprise Records. The B4>kx#LR
first single from the new album, the Buble penned ]JUb;B;Z
"Everything", has just been released and will be performed 3ZhB 8 P
by the artist on The Today Show on the day of the release. .bT+#x

The Vancouver native, whose collective worldwide record ]\8{z"
sales are over 11 million units, is also scheduled to -2`D(xC

with stops including Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, "92Z"I~1

Call Me Irresponsible highlights include Buble's energy +=qazE<:0
infused interpretations on standards from a variety of L 2Z9g`>
eras including songs by such greats as Leonard Cohen, Eric ?#cX_
Clapton, Cy Coleman, Gamble and Huff, Harold Arlen, Johnny qOi3`6LCV
Mercer and others. |}O9'fyU8
Mb2rHUr
Produced by David Foster and Humberto Gattica, bns([F
Irresponsible includes a touching Buble written ballad :q+D`s
called "Lost," along with a rocking duet with Boys II Men F9Bj$`#)
of the old Mel Torme' hit "Coming Home Baby." Brazilian :6 \?{xD
singer Ivan Lens also makes a guest appearance on the _s&sA2r<
Clapton written "Wonderful Tonight". The pairing of these %mv9+WJN.
two voices from two totally different generations :M%s:,]R
magnifies Buble's summation of this record-love is c/g"/ICs
universal and ageless. sHr!GF

As for the album, Buble says, "It's all about love. We're v.aSf`K
either in love, dreaming about love recovering from it, =u+.o<
wishing for it or reflecting on it. That's what this 5X'com?T
record is about." DW,fh8w
}&o*ZY-1
Michael BubleThe Grammy-nominated, four-time Juno Award g3i !>
winning Buble arrived on the music scene with a ua'dm6",:
groundbreaking 2003 self-titled debut CD and embarked on lYz$~/sd
what would virtually become a perpetual concert tour NyJ=^=F#
circling the globe continuously for the last five years. 'za4c4b*u
His multi platinum follow-up, "It's Time," sold over 5.5 j+p=ik
million copies and has remained on the Billboard }k-rOi'jL
Traditional Jazz charts for a staggering two years and in lk5}bnd5
the No. 1 slot for over 80 weeks, holding the all time &;)6G1X1
record. His reputation as one of the world's consumate u}[Z=V
'entertainers' is by now legendary. "Buble's stage _DAAD,'<a
presence is magnetic. He has charisma, energy and when he =}12S:Qhj
sings, words float out of his mouth; he swivels like Elvis x4HVB
with a flash of a tap dancing Fred Astaire. He has fun," j})6O!L.
raved the London Sunday Times Magazine. k?Bc^7l:
/y \KLa
Ask Michael Bubl?how he felt going in to record his third 3j2% '$>E^
studio album, Call Me Irresponsible, and this artist with #Moju
11 million albums sold and two Grammy nominations under f y|Ae
his belt can sum it up in one word. mST/u>'
fYU-pdWPT
"Terrified," he says simply. Terrified? #\&jM -.-
bB^SD] }C
"Completely, because I knew that it had to be better than E+65
the first two - that it had to show growth without JQ*CF(9
alienating anyone, and that's a tough line. So I sat there D\:~G}M
from the very beginning and came up with the songs, put sf|[oD
together the skeleton, and thought about what arrangers I quB .A7~^=
would hire. I even ended up at the mastering session, CVi3nS5Yl
which artists rarely attend. I wanted to be involved in ;tR,w
every aspect because I wanted it to be conceptually pGy]t
beautiful." }v[$uT-q
Mb I';Mq
Bubl?has certainly achieved success on that front. As Tv;|K's'
with his previous two 143/Reprise bestsellers, 2003's ]0HlPP:2
self-titled debut and 2005's multi-platinum follow-up It's O?ZCX_R:L
Time, Call Me Irresponsible boasts more of Bubl?s !50Fue^JM
buoyant, modern interpretations of standards from a =9oN#4mWK
variety of eras, including songs by such greats as Leonard s -Mzl?o
Cohen, Eric Clapton, Cy Coleman, Gamble and Huff, and ?hu$
others, as well as two self-penned originals, including ~6nq$(#
the first single, the uplifting love song called ]i=\5FH e
"Everything." kpkN GQ2
az(u=}
But it's hardly business as usual for this Vancouver <%(nF+rQA"
native. It never is for Bubl? whose irrepressible spirit, F:8cd^d~u
engaging humor, and confident charisma once led the New +yq Z\$ii
York Times to call him "an entertainer who is completely 6 ]@H.8+
at home on the stage." x. 7Ln9
o3hsPzOQx
Michael BubleHis new CD, which he calls "my remark on the /=x) 9J
state of love," contains a depth of feeling that will ,qgph^C
surprise and delight long-term fans and impress those new [T;0vv8
to his music. "To me, what's different about this CD is :bLLN
that it has a certain raw emotion because I recorded many mis cmD
of these songs live in the studio." Bubl?introduces the /\-qz$
electrifying, impeccably orchestrated set to follow with k,xY\r$
the opening track, Cy Coleman's "The Best Is Yet To Come," f$x\~y<[
(made famous by Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and others). )g9&fGYf
Then there's the exhilarating, salsa-flavored "It Had R4<}kA,.
Better Be Tonight," written by Johnny Mercer and Henry F6gboo)SD
Mancini, which Bubl?attacks with a hot-blooded Q0f7gY1-%
vengeance-"another very sexy songand edgy." From there, Ly?gpOqu5
he takes on "Me and Mrs. Jones," the 1972 Gamble and Huff i/nA(%_
classic popularized by soul singer Billy Paul. "David {XMF26C#
(Foster) brought it to me, I'd never actually heard it /++CwRz@Gm
before," Bubl?says. "We wanted it to be authentic and @)>9l&
tell the story." Next up is Leonard Cohen's "I'm Your Man" m<>3GF,5bP
from the Canadian singer/songwriter's 1988 album of the 2 $^n@<uZ@
same name. "I always thought it was a wonderful song - ]7C=.'Y
desperate, sexy, and dark," Bubl?says. "I actually called ).TQYrs
Leonard and told him I was afraid of performing it live. ~+{OSx<S
When he asked me why, I said because he'd written too sexy \N\Jny
of a song and I was afraid men were going to throw their DiyviH
underpants at me. He just laughed and said, 'I wouldn't 'H<0:bQ=I
worry too much about that.'" D7b<&D@
\v7M`! &
Then there's a swinging, hep-cat version of Mel Torm?s ?|8H|LBIr
1962 pop hit "Comin' Home Baby," featuring vocals from M`$s dZ"
Philly soul faves Boys II Men; and a sentimental, }fW@8ji\
self-penned ballad "Lost," co-written with Chang and 3_W1)vd{
Canadian singer-songwriter Jann Arden. "It's an anthem for %aU4d e^
star-crossed lovers," Bubl?says. "Sometimes relationships |?CR|xqT
don't work out because love isn't enough, but that doesn't zg!;g`Z@S
mean you have to discard the person. There is a way to end cn$E?&-
a relationship and still be there when they need you. \4q% n
That's basically what it's about." (yv&&Jc
/s3AZ j9
A languid, emotional rendition of Eric Clapton's ballad m$xL#omD
"Wonderful Tonight," on which Bubl?duets with Brazilian ~3 Y)o|D3
singer-songwriter Ivan Lins, whose work has been covered UdmYS3zs
by everyone from Sarah Vaughan to Ella Fitzgerald follows. YFD'&N,sx
"I've always been very sentimental about that song," Bubl? 7z'l}*FRD
says. "What is interesting about that track is here I am, K.?~@5%
a 31-year-old guy from Canada who's singing a song that ve2GRTO^aC
means so much to me with a 61-year-old man from Brazil, LlP_`fA
who's singing in his own language but it means the exact s+>VqyHgf
same thing to both of us." U+t|wK
Gxu&o%x [
Other highlight's include two of Bubl?s original songs, dUOvv/,FZT
including the acoustic-guitar driven "Everything," kAbRXID
co-written with Amy Foster-Gillies and Alan Chang (who [ Y_6PR
also co-wrote Bubl?s touching hit ballad "Home" off It's A.<HOx&#
Time) and produced by fellow Canadian Bob Rock (Bon Jovi, 4oT1<n`r+
Metallica, Motley Crue, Bryan Adams). "I wrote that song PW"G]G,
about the great happiness of real love, but at the same <o^_il$W
time I was making a statement about the world," Bubl? $j*j {}K
says. "We're living in really crazy times, and I wanted to w#w lZ1f
say that no matter what's happening, this person in my N\?%944R
life is what really makes it worthwhile." Z 55iq
P g.PD,&U
Michael BubleRounding out Call Me Irresponsible is Frank 6LRI~*F=3
Sinatra's "That's Life," which, in Bubl?s hands, becomes m!3L/UZ
a powerhouse complete with a full choir. "I brought the V3fd]rIP
song to a wonderful guy named Mervyn Warren, from the EOu\7;kE9
acappella group Take 6 and said, 'I want to take this to 6CBk,2DswI
church; I want to make it a huge gospel tune.' So he L;=:OX 0
brought in a choir and I love it. It's one of my favorite & IVwm"
things about the record." [H5TtsQ[
TN}YRXtW+
To help him capture the intensity in the songs' meanings, ]q DhGt
Bubl?turned to his long-standing team of producers, which aJlSIw*Q,
include 14-time Grammy winner David Foster (Barbra Be+CV">2
Streisand, Celine Dion, Josh Groban) and producer/engineer zXQ o pQ1
Humberto Gatica (Elton John, Destiny's Child, Michael ">]v'h(s
Jackson). "We definitely have a great working relationship [Q &{#%M
where I think I interfere just enough," Bubl?says with a N"MuAUB:K
laugh. "I mean, David is the greatest producer in the pqO}=*v@
world. They're both so amazing, I couldn't do it without 2Q`@lTUv
them." h% BA,C
w*`5b!+/
Foster first discovered Bubl?seven years ago when he hc}d S$=C
caught the aspiring star performing at the wedding of euO!+9p
former Canadian Prime Minster's daughter. The son of a Hzs]\%"
British Columbia-based salmon and herring fisherman, Bubl? |><hdBQXX<
spent the months his parents were away with his = R|?LOEK+
music-loving Italian grandfather, who introduced him to *r Y6
the singers who would become Bubl?s idols: Bobby Darin, (.a:jL$
Dean Martin, Sinatra, Ray Charles, and Elvis Presley. x g~q'>
"These guys were triple threats," he says. "They could _ETG.SYq
sing, they could dance, they could act. They were +v:t
entertainers, and I believe that's a lost art now." .8hB <G
8jW{0&ox)
Bubl?honed his skills as a showman through years of elCDPZTf
performing in hotel lounges and smoky bars - gigs his :Xc%_&)
grandfather, a plumber, helped the underage singer secure Mi&,64<
by trading his plumbing services. By the time Foster met =s`\W7/;{-
him 2000, Bubl?already knew exactly what he brought to 1UX"iO x(
the table - a warm, engaging voice and unassailable taste 59gt#1k
in music. His debut album was an international smash, jPg8>Z&D
going Top Ten in the U.K. and Canada, and earning him his w(pLU$6X
first Juno award for Best New Talent in 2004. The |LA./%U
follow-up, It's Time, sold more than 5.5 million copies, xoI;s}*E
and has remained on the Billboard Traditional Jazz charts [{e[3b*M|
for a staggering two years, and in the Number 1 slot for &/*XA
more than 80 weeks, an all-time record. ;:Q 5?zM
+L1%mVq]y
But along with his passion for creating great music in the I#QBJ#
studio, performing on stage is pure paradise for Michael hW[/{2<@
Bubl? "I just love getting in front of people," he says. i8pM,Ppi~
"It's so important to be in touch with your audience. O1IR+"0
They've paid their money. I want them to be entertained. _?&$@c
If they want to cry or laugh or dance or sing or yell, 4jefU}e9#
they can do whatever they want. My responsibility is just Reca5r1O
to take them away." zK893)
