The one and only Michael Buble's eagerly awaited new CD v; R2,`[W
"Call Me Irresponsible' will be released on May 1st, it xiDgQTDz
was confirmed by his record label, Reprise Records. The AV7#,+p%G
first single from the new album, the Buble penned cqSXX++CS,
"Everything", has just been released and will be performed _{-[1-lN5_
by the artist on The Today Show on the day of the release. }>d

The Vancouver native, whose collective worldwide record G]4Ca5;Z!N
sales are over 11 million units, is also scheduled to *} ?
begin a global concert tour in Reno, Nevada on July 13th n,2
with stops including Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, =^i K^)
Atlanta, Los Angeles and Seattle. *3r s+0

Call Me Irresponsible highlights include Buble's energy -%@ah:iJ
infused interpretations on standards from a variety of 5doi4b>]!
eras including songs by such greats as Leonard Cohen, Eric {ywwJ
Clapton, Cy Coleman, Gamble and Huff, Harold Arlen, Johnny wjD<"p;P
Mercer and others. +`_0tM1
_DH^ K 9,9
Produced by David Foster and Humberto Gattica, m\X\Xp~A
Irresponsible includes a touching Buble written ballad RB4 +"QUh
called "Lost," along with a rocking duet with Boys II Men _+'!l'`
of the old Mel Torme' hit "Coming Home Baby." Brazilian -Ep#q&\
singer Ivan Lens also makes a guest appearance on the %,~?;JAj
Clapton written "Wonderful Tonight". The pairing of these 28`s+sH
two voices from two totally different generations 3%5a&b
magnifies Buble's summation of this record-love is p@nj6N.--
universal and ageless. {:|3V 7X

As for the album, Buble says, "It's all about love. We're /s} "0/Y\
either in love, dreaming about love recovering from it, {(!JYz~P
wishing for it or reflecting on it. That's what this 1 l"2 ~k
record is about." rM"27ud[`_

Michael BubleThe Grammy-nominated, four-time Juno Award bWAa: r
winning Buble arrived on the music scene with a q\]X1N
groundbreaking 2003 self-titled debut CD and embarked on }cr'o"4
what would virtually become a perpetual concert tour YrB-n
circling the globe continuously for the last five years. ^9:`D@Z+
His multi platinum follow-up, "It's Time," sold over 5.5 V5z2.} 'o-
million copies and has remained on the Billboard 9$HBKcO
Traditional Jazz charts for a staggering two years and in )c{>@WM~
the No. 1 slot for over 80 weeks, holding the all time 3ie k >'T
record. His reputation as one of the world's consumate 0hV#]`9`gN
'entertainers' is by now legendary. "Buble's stage eNK[P=-
presence is magnetic. He has charisma, energy and when he OtmDZ.t;`
sings, words float out of his mouth; he swivels like Elvis 75zU,0"j
with a flash of a tap dancing Fred Astaire. He has fun," V<J1.8H
raved the London Sunday Times Magazine. [I3Nu8

Ask Michael Bubl?how he felt going in to record his third J\Pb/9M/
studio album, Call Me Irresponsible, and this artist with oDMPYkpTu
11 million albums sold and two Grammy nominations under XhHgXVVGG<
his belt can sum it up in one word. OyF=G^w
R`Z"ey@C
"Terrified," he says simply. Terrified? nOvR, 6
_ERtL5^
"Completely, because I knew that it had to be better than G<n75!
the first two - that it had to show growth without 1o%#kf
alienating anyone, and that's a tough line. So I sat there 3Iv^
from the very beginning and came up with the songs, put KF_fz
together the skeleton, and thought about what arrangers I Y?NL|cW4
would hire. I even ended up at the mastering session, 9hfg/3t('
which artists rarely attend. I wanted to be involved in YM:sLeQ~c
every aspect because I wanted it to be conceptually 5@m ,*n&[
beautiful." ]690ey$E:j
iX]OF.:
Bubl?has certainly achieved success on that front. As .Y;f 9R
with his previous two 143/Reprise bestsellers, 2003's TA-2{=8
self-titled debut and 2005's multi-platinum follow-up It's :LY.C<8
Time, Call Me Irresponsible boasts more of Bubl?s JM|HnyI
buoyant, modern interpretations of standards from a "u!gfG?oH
variety of eras, including songs by such greats as Leonard dX cbS<
Cohen, Eric Clapton, Cy Coleman, Gamble and Huff, and QQ.?A(U7
others, as well as two self-penned originals, including V;xPZ2C;
the first single, the uplifting love song called J W@6m
"Everything." Wvf>5g)?
KtL?,zi
But it's hardly business as usual for this Vancouver E 6TeZ%g
native. It never is for Bubl? whose irrepressible spirit, 5 ix*wu`,
engaging humor, and confident charisma once led the New 0BlEt1e2T
York Times to call him "an entertainer who is completely f?Zjd&|Ch
at home on the stage." .EL3}6"A
.i RKuBM/
Michael BubleHis new CD, which he calls "my remark on the +ig%_QED[\
state of love," contains a depth of feeling that will $qQYxx@
surprise and delight long-term fans and impress those new ]O"f%
to his music. "To me, what's different about this CD is 'NhQBk
that it has a certain raw emotion because I recorded many E(4c&
of these songs live in the studio." Bubl?introduces the | 6JKB'
electrifying, impeccably orchestrated set to follow with p|t" 4HQ
the opening track, Cy Coleman's "The Best Is Yet To Come," `xLsD}32
(made famous by Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and others). @/.# /
Then there's the exhilarating, salsa-flavored "It Had ["EXSptB
Better Be Tonight," written by Johnny Mercer and Henry TjTG+uQ
Mancini, which Bubl?attacks with a hot-blooded sip4,>,E
vengeance-"another very sexy songand edgy." From there, G|rE\h 2w
he takes on "Me and Mrs. Jones," the 1972 Gamble and Huff :@[\(:
classic popularized by soul singer Billy Paul. "David f47]gtB-
(Foster) brought it to me, I'd never actually heard it EVX3uC}{
before," Bubl?says. "We wanted it to be authentic and k56Qas+3=
tell the story." Next up is Leonard Cohen's "I'm Your Man" ?n `m
from the Canadian singer/songwriter's 1988 album of the ?[Lk]A&"L2
same name. "I always thought it was a wonderful song - K>$f#^
desperate, sexy, and dark," Bubl?says. "I actually called !Zj ]0,^
Leonard and told him I was afraid of performing it live. 4@
When he asked me why, I said because he'd written too sexy I/Vw2
of a song and I was afraid men were going to throw their t^~vi'bB
underpants at me. He just laughed and said, 'I wouldn't @./h$]6
worry too much about that.'" H~+A6g]T
~i5YqH0
Then there's a swinging, hep-cat version of Mel Torm?s 4f[%Bb
1962 pop hit "Comin' Home Baby," featuring vocals from 1l$Ei,9
Philly soul faves Boys II Men; and a sentimental, >9&31wA_
self-penned ballad "Lost," co-written with Chang and u[b |QR=5
Canadian singer-songwriter Jann Arden. "It's an anthem for p@ ^G)x
star-crossed lovers," Bubl?says. "Sometimes relationships \sAaVdZJH(
don't work out because love isn't enough, but that doesn't 'ztOl`I5V
mean you have to discard the person. There is a way to end lI=<lmM0|/
a relationship and still be there when they need you. (SBhU:^h
That's basically what it's about." 90<g=B
{-\U)&6#v
A languid, emotional rendition of Eric Clapton's ballad MNd\)nX
"Wonderful Tonight," on which Bubl?duets with Brazilian ."$t&[;s
singer-songwriter Ivan Lins, whose work has been covered ~(^P(
by everyone from Sarah Vaughan to Ella Fitzgerald follows. 2IJK0w@
"I've always been very sentimental about that song," Bubl? H{*D c_
says. "What is interesting about that track is here I am, :25LQf^nz
a 31-year-old guy from Canada who's singing a song that 7Bp7d/R-
means so much to me with a 61-year-old man from Brazil, H#SQ>vyAV
who's singing in his own language but it means the exact @(,1}3s
same thing to both of us." ]u|fLK.|
UY< PiP
Other highlight's include two of Bubl?s original songs, %qoS(iO`h
including the acoustic-guitar driven "Everything," ] 4dl6T
co-written with Amy Foster-Gillies and Alan Chang (who q Q\j
also co-wrote Bubl?s touching hit ballad "Home" off It's ' k,2*.A
Time) and produced by fellow Canadian Bob Rock (Bon Jovi, l a3B`p
Metallica, Motley Crue, Bryan Adams). "I wrote that song )\akIA
about the great happiness of real love, but at the same l{k_;i!D
time I was making a statement about the world," Bubl? arYq$~U
says. "We're living in really crazy times, and I wanted to pZnp!!G
say that no matter what's happening, this person in my D<SC `
life is what really makes it worthwhile." ;o9h|LRs
dht0PZdx?
Michael BubleRounding out Call Me Irresponsible is Frank =u<:'\_
Sinatra's "That's Life," which, in Bubl?s hands, becomes S[Du >
a powerhouse complete with a full choir. "I brought the }D#: NlMp
song to a wonderful guy named Mervyn Warren, from the *jlIV$r_
acappella group Take 6 and said, 'I want to take this to UHZuH?|@
church; I want to make it a huge gospel tune.' So he 5'} V`?S
brought in a choir and I love it. It's one of my favorite 1F@j?)(
things about the record." v-{g
%2}fW\% '
To help him capture the intensity in the songs' meanings, X;I9\Cp]!
Bubl?turned to his long-standing team of producers, which RxP H[7oZ
include 14-time Grammy winner David Foster (Barbra yix[zfQt0
Streisand, Celine Dion, Josh Groban) and producer/engineer BX >L7n
Humberto Gatica (Elton John, Destiny's Child, Michael sey,J5?
Jackson). "We definitely have a great working relationship \vA*dQ-
where I think I interfere just enough," Bubl?says with a a`!Jq'
laugh. "I mean, David is the greatest producer in the "n%s>@$
world. They're both so amazing, I couldn't do it without Oidf\%!mvR
them." +hyOc|5
^m qEKy<
Foster first discovered Bubl?seven years ago when he 'FErk~}/4s
caught the aspiring star performing at the wedding of c7e,lgG-
former Canadian Prime Minster's daughter. The son of a T`&zQQ6F'
British Columbia-based salmon and herring fisherman, Bubl? xlI =)ak{
spent the months his parents were away with his PF%-fbh!~
music-loving Italian grandfather, who introduced him to 6_j |@
the singers who would become Bubl?s idols: Bobby Darin, uz8LF47@:-
Dean Martin, Sinatra, Ray Charles, and Elvis Presley. n#(pT3&
"These guys were triple threats," he says. "They could U+Y(:
sing, they could dance, they could act. They were .xRdKt!p
entertainers, and I believe that's a lost art now." y\?ey'o
2cMC ZuO
Bubl?honed his skills as a showman through years of r_T)| ||v
performing in hotel lounges and smoky bars - gigs his 3Ua?^2l
grandfather, a plumber, helped the underage singer secure EW `hL~{
by trading his plumbing services. By the time Foster met :viW
him 2000, Bubl?already knew exactly what he brought to (>al-vZ6A
the table - a warm, engaging voice and unassailable taste lzEynMO+
in music. His debut album was an international smash, J&xZN8jW
going Top Ten in the U.K. and Canada, and earning him his .GrOdDK$ns
first Juno award for Best New Talent in 2004. The Zy}tZRG
follow-up, It's Time, sold more than 5.5 million copies, Un6R)MVT
and has remained on the Billboard Traditional Jazz charts YF5}~M ymF
for a staggering two years, and in the Number 1 slot for M>AxVL
more than 80 weeks, an all-time record. 7L!JP:v
^""edCs
But along with his passion for creating great music in the I|@+O#
studio, performing on stage is pure paradise for Michael Vj*-E
Bubl? "I just love getting in front of people," he says. ^CkMk 1
"It's so important to be in touch with your audience. H1bR+2s
They've paid their money. I want them to be entertained. >e;-$$e
If they want to cry or laugh or dance or sing or yell, qRt!kWW
they can do whatever they want. My responsibility is just V1aP_G-:
to take them away." hOj{y2sc
