The Vancouver native, whose collective worldwide record MCjf$pZN]
sales are over 11 million units, is also scheduled to C`%cPl
begin a global concert tour in Reno, Nevada on July 13th ~\6Kq`Y
with stops including Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, 7GB>m}7
Atlanta, Los Angeles and Seattle. `og 3P:y

Call Me Irresponsible highlights include Buble's energy V80g+)|
infused interpretations on standards from a variety of ofC=S$wX
eras including songs by such greats as Leonard Cohen, Eric .m9s+D]fI
Clapton, Cy Coleman, Gamble and Huff, Harold Arlen, Johnny XcAx@CY9c
Mercer and others. BRi\&&<4
-M/DOTc
Produced by David Foster and Humberto Gattica, x4r\cL1!
Irresponsible includes a touching Buble written ballad jhr: QS/9
called "Lost," along with a rocking duet with Boys II Men [z'PdYQR/{
of the old Mel Torme' hit "Coming Home Baby." Brazilian h;u8{t"
singer Ivan Lens also makes a guest appearance on the & w&JE]$ 5
Clapton written "Wonderful Tonight". The pairing of these l c?9B
two voices from two totally different generations xKi: 2
magnifies Buble's summation of this record-love is 5 <X.1 T1
universal and ageless. 8' M4 3n
'avzESe~'
As for the album, Buble says, "It's all about love. We're ('hr;s=
either in love, dreaming about love recovering from it, z/dpnGX
wishing for it or reflecting on it. That's what this r#M0X^4A
record is about." 1MkQ$v7m
JPJ&k( P
Michael BubleThe Grammy-nominated, four-time Juno Award qb'4x){
winning Buble arrived on the music scene with a V+G.TI P
groundbreaking 2003 self-titled debut CD and embarked on C@3a/<6m
what would virtually become a perpetual concert tour ixm-wZI
circling the globe continuously for the last five years. X,DG2HT
His multi platinum follow-up, "It's Time," sold over 5.5 5 Sm9m*/
million copies and has remained on the Billboard 6jyS]($q
Traditional Jazz charts for a staggering two years and in OE[| 1?3
the No. 1 slot for over 80 weeks, holding the all time U.g7'`Z<
record. His reputation as one of the world's consumate *DfwTbg|
'entertainers' is by now legendary. "Buble's stage lR3`4bHA
presence is magnetic. He has charisma, energy and when he F6^Xi"R[
sings, words float out of his mouth; he swivels like Elvis X` r~cc
with a flash of a tap dancing Fred Astaire. He has fun," "jS @ug
raved the London Sunday Times Magazine. *i3\`;^=
wl2P^Pj
Ask Michael Bubl?how he felt going in to record his third v o<'7,
studio album, Call Me Irresponsible, and this artist with U?]}K S;6
11 million albums sold and two Grammy nominations under i286 J.
his belt can sum it up in one word. h]W PWa)M
^k{b8-)W<
"Terrified," he says simply. Terrified? )zn`qaHK@e
'9@} =pE
"Completely, because I knew that it had to be better than G)5R iRcs
the first two - that it had to show growth without gkkT<hEV=
alienating anyone, and that's a tough line. So I sat there p6P .I8g
from the very beginning and came up with the songs, put W5a7HkM
together the skeleton, and thought about what arrangers I ,, S]_S
would hire. I even ended up at the mastering session, @s7ZfV??
which artists rarely attend. I wanted to be involved in EGJ d:>k
every aspect because I wanted it to be conceptually wN}@%D-[v
beautiful." r2!\Ts5v
3(&f!<Uy
Bubl?has certainly achieved success on that front. As 1V/?p<A
with his previous two 143/Reprise bestsellers, 2003's 0o-. m
self-titled debut and 2005's multi-platinum follow-up It's pb8sx1.j;
Time, Call Me Irresponsible boasts more of Bubl?s +hiskV@v
buoyant, modern interpretations of standards from a 4gKu8G
variety of eras, including songs by such greats as Leonard ZhvZe/
Cohen, Eric Clapton, Cy Coleman, Gamble and Huff, and B=!&rKF
others, as well as two self-penned originals, including GQ -fEIi{
the first single, the uplifting love song called ECW=865jL
"Everything." ,76xa%k(U|
H<N$z 3k
But it's hardly business as usual for this Vancouver STln_'DF'
native. It never is for Bubl? whose irrepressible spirit, 8_*31Y
engaging humor, and confident charisma once led the New yq7gBkS
York Times to call him "an entertainer who is completely A [c1E[
at home on the stage." ^mp#7OL
'DeI]IeP
Michael BubleHis new CD, which he calls "my remark on the 3fBV SFVS
state of love," contains a depth of feeling that will cVb&Jzd
surprise and delight long-term fans and impress those new oeKVcVP|'&
to his music. "To me, what's different about this CD is Wxeg(L}E
that it has a certain raw emotion because I recorded many azBYh*s=5{
of these songs live in the studio." Bubl?introduces the [uLwr$N<%L
electrifying, impeccably orchestrated set to follow with f\+E&p.
the opening track, Cy Coleman's "The Best Is Yet To Come," /8Wfs5N
(made famous by Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and others). S&JsDPzSd
Then there's the exhilarating, salsa-flavored "It Had n5qg6(Tl]
Better Be Tonight," written by Johnny Mercer and Henry R"2wop
Mancini, which Bubl?attacks with a hot-blooded _-+xzdGvX
vengeance-"another very sexy songand edgy." From there, :@~W$f\y
he takes on "Me and Mrs. Jones," the 1972 Gamble and Huff *r90IS}A$2
classic popularized by soul singer Billy Paul. "David &2P=74\=
(Foster) brought it to me, I'd never actually heard it [C-4*qOaa2
before," Bubl?says. "We wanted it to be authentic and j0wpaIp
tell the story." Next up is Leonard Cohen's "I'm Your Man" V$?@ z>7
from the Canadian singer/songwriter's 1988 album of the VZ3{$0 +
same name. "I always thought it was a wonderful song - (/ qOY
desperate, sexy, and dark," Bubl?says. "I actually called 1fOH$33
Leonard and told him I was afraid of performing it live. P Y&(ObC
When he asked me why, I said because he'd written too sexy nDU=B.?E{O
of a song and I was afraid men were going to throw their je#OV,uHM
underpants at me. He just laughed and said, 'I wouldn't m%s&$
worry too much about that.'" T1*%]6&V|
BN>t"9XpW
Then there's a swinging, hep-cat version of Mel Torm?s ;Pw\p^wz
1962 pop hit "Comin' Home Baby," featuring vocals from }N0$DqP
Philly soul faves Boys II Men; and a sentimental, \?_M_5Nb
self-penned ballad "Lost," co-written with Chang and 8 \BGL
Canadian singer-songwriter Jann Arden. "It's an anthem for x>!bvZ2
star-crossed lovers," Bubl?says. "Sometimes relationships H_n Ilku
don't work out because love isn't enough, but that doesn't zB68%
mean you have to discard the person. There is a way to end (ebC80M
a relationship and still be there when they need you. "xdu h3/~=
That's basically what it's about." /?Y]wY
S HxD(6
A languid, emotional rendition of Eric Clapton's ballad rNN ,!
"Wonderful Tonight," on which Bubl?duets with Brazilian ^B?brH}
singer-songwriter Ivan Lins, whose work has been covered :9~LYJ ?
by everyone from Sarah Vaughan to Ella Fitzgerald follows. +ktubJ@Qgj
"I've always been very sentimental about that song," Bubl? 1=L5=uz1d:
says. "What is interesting about that track is here I am, Q)[DSM
a 31-year-old guy from Canada who's singing a song that q|zips,
means so much to me with a 61-year-old man from Brazil, 5< $8.a#
who's singing in his own language but it means the exact aN?^vW<
same thing to both of us." XVfw0-O
(jp!q ,)
Other highlight's include two of Bubl?s original songs, }bZb8hiG
including the acoustic-guitar driven "Everything," s9rKXY',:l
co-written with Amy Foster-Gillies and Alan Chang (who K41Gn
also co-wrote Bubl?s touching hit ballad "Home" off It's H8!)zZ
Time) and produced by fellow Canadian Bob Rock (Bon Jovi, .%G>z"Xx
Metallica, Motley Crue, Bryan Adams). "I wrote that song #ZyY(S1.
about the great happiness of real love, but at the same _Kwp8_kTr
time I was making a statement about the world," Bubl? =&t]R? F
says. "We're living in really crazy times, and I wanted to 6PyW(i(bs
say that no matter what's happening, this person in my t2LX@Q"
life is what really makes it worthwhile." tjg?zlj
gwyX%9
Michael BubleRounding out Call Me Irresponsible is Frank 85:KlBe%+
Sinatra's "That's Life," which, in Bubl?s hands, becomes lx{ ' bzv
a powerhouse complete with a full choir. "I brought the z 4qEC
song to a wonderful guy named Mervyn Warren, from the ]4onY >
acappella group Take 6 and said, 'I want to take this to {|B 2$1':
church; I want to make it a huge gospel tune.' So he ><xJQeW
brought in a choir and I love it. It's one of my favorite #h}a
things about the record." |)*9BN
|,Kk#`lW<f
To help him capture the intensity in the songs' meanings, A5E^1j}h@
Bubl?turned to his long-standing team of producers, which q.kDx_
include 14-time Grammy winner David Foster (Barbra MxDqp;
Streisand, Celine Dion, Josh Groban) and producer/engineer u<JkP <"S
Humberto Gatica (Elton John, Destiny's Child, Michael zJ30ZY:
Jackson). "We definitely have a great working relationship _0|@B8!J?
where I think I interfere just enough," Bubl?says with a m.68ctaa
laugh. "I mean, David is the greatest producer in the Ou`;HN;[
world. They're both so amazing, I couldn't do it without pIHpjx
them." c'D NO~H
= N^Ec[u(l
Foster first discovered Bubl?seven years ago when he t|m=X
caught the aspiring star performing at the wedding of M#k$[w}=
former Canadian Prime Minster's daughter. The son of a ;}H*|"z;!
British Columbia-based salmon and herring fisherman, Bubl? u'T?e+=
spent the months his parents were away with his 8ZCR9%
music-loving Italian grandfather, who introduced him to <+UJgB A-
the singers who would become Bubl?s idols: Bobby Darin, M5:j)o W
Dean Martin, Sinatra, Ray Charles, and Elvis Presley. a@ ^)?cH!z
"These guys were triple threats," he says. "They could 'cqY-64CJZ
sing, they could dance, they could act. They were twhT6wz"
entertainers, and I believe that's a lost art now." lnGg1/
R|92T*h
Bubl?honed his skills as a showman through years of qpjiQ,\:b
performing in hotel lounges and smoky bars - gigs his 8g {;o 7
grandfather, a plumber, helped the underage singer secure +;,X?E]g
by trading his plumbing services. By the time Foster met TBZhL
him 2000, Bubl?already knew exactly what he brought to + 2w<V0V_
the table - a warm, engaging voice and unassailable taste N/eus"O;
in music. His debut album was an international smash, 9iV9q]($0
going Top Ten in the U.K. and Canada, and earning him his %]1te*_
first Juno award for Best New Talent in 2004. The \5-Dp9vG
follow-up, It's Time, sold more than 5.5 million copies, Pk;1q?tGw
and has remained on the Billboard Traditional Jazz charts :31?Z(fQ
for a staggering two years, and in the Number 1 slot for m@']%X*(,
more than 80 weeks, an all-time record. T$sm}=
#qARcxbK|
But along with his passion for creating great music in the {e1sq^>|
studio, performing on stage is pure paradise for Michael ,/qY 9eh
Bubl? "I just love getting in front of people," he says. Nza@6nI"
"It's so important to be in touch with your audience. u2IU/z8 ^
They've paid their money. I want them to be entertained. @{Dfro
If they want to cry or laugh or dance or sing or yell, G#~U\QlG-
they can do whatever they want. My responsibility is just _U9.u#>sV
to take them away." +R7pdi
