The one and only Michael Buble's eagerly awaited new CD iXXaB +w
"Call Me Irresponsible' will be released on May 1st, it aYHs35
was confirmed by his record label, Reprise Records. The m c@Z+t'
first single from the new album, the Buble penned 1Ak0A6E
"Everything", has just been released and will be performed een62-`
by the artist on The Today Show on the day of the release. VAyAXN~

The Vancouver native, whose collective worldwide record 4 EA$<n(A-
sales are over 11 million units, is also scheduled to 7*Zm{r@u
begin a global concert tour in Reno, Nevada on July 13th ,lFzL3'_0x
with stops including Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, v{*2F
Atlanta, Los Angeles and Seattle. |Dq?<Ha
fLSDt(c',
Call Me Irresponsible highlights include Buble's energy d& v 7l
infused interpretations on standards from a variety of r( wtuD23q
eras including songs by such greats as Leonard Cohen, Eric Zc&pJP+M'U
Clapton, Cy Coleman, Gamble and Huff, Harold Arlen, Johnny |gINB3L
Mercer and others. z\K %
P#8lO%;
Produced by David Foster and Humberto Gattica, By}ZHK94I
Irresponsible includes a touching Buble written ballad ,,#6SR(n
called "Lost," along with a rocking duet with Boys II Men %P#| }
of the old Mel Torme' hit "Coming Home Baby." Brazilian a8k`Wog
singer Ivan Lens also makes a guest appearance on the {cdrMP@""
Clapton written "Wonderful Tonight". The pairing of these 9]tW;?
two voices from two totally different generations M.)z;[3O
magnifies Buble's summation of this record-love is G2@'S&2@s
universal and ageless. ]<q!pE;t
P$^I\aGO
As for the album, Buble says, "It's all about love. We're `(O#$n
either in love, dreaming about love recovering from it, $,I@c"m{
wishing for it or reflecting on it. That's what this JlEfUg#*
record is about." ;4v`FC>
R /_vJHI
Michael BubleThe Grammy-nominated, four-time Juno Award $!z.[GL
winning Buble arrived on the music scene with a ?A*<Z%}1?
groundbreaking 2003 self-titled debut CD and embarked on A4;~+L:M
what would virtually become a perpetual concert tour )2Y]A^Y
circling the globe continuously for the last five years. A L |,\s
His multi platinum follow-up, "It's Time," sold over 5.5 w^3S6lK
million copies and has remained on the Billboard ozHL'H
Traditional Jazz charts for a staggering two years and in wp4 .~E
the No. 1 slot for over 80 weeks, holding the all time Eb29tq
record. His reputation as one of the world's consumate "l#"c{ee{
'entertainers' is by now legendary. "Buble's stage k>!i _lb
presence is magnetic. He has charisma, energy and when he rploQF~OFF
sings, words float out of his mouth; he swivels like Elvis S'@Ok=FSy
with a flash of a tap dancing Fred Astaire. He has fun," 20J-VN:
raved the London Sunday Times Magazine. G1ruF8
!I91kJt7
Ask Michael Bubl?how he felt going in to record his third 0YoV`D,U
studio album, Call Me Irresponsible, and this artist with |^F$Ta
11 million albums sold and two Grammy nominations under j*1MnP3/8Y
his belt can sum it up in one word. u'Hh||La"
X~\O]
"Terrified," he says simply. Terrified? N1vA>(2A
^EmePkPI
"Completely, because I knew that it had to be better than 7v.O Lp
the first two - that it had to show growth without evVxzU&
alienating anyone, and that's a tough line. So I sat there 8S[bt@v
from the very beginning and came up with the songs, put 9c{ ~$zJW
together the skeleton, and thought about what arrangers I o{mVXidE
would hire. I even ended up at the mastering session, ^ b=;
which artists rarely attend. I wanted to be involved in lx?v .:zl\
every aspect because I wanted it to be conceptually #}tdA( -
beautiful." dWhqu68_
hOdU%
Bubl?has certainly achieved success on that front. As 2G3Hi;q18
with his previous two 143/Reprise bestsellers, 2003's Wm)Id_
self-titled debut and 2005's multi-platinum follow-up It's I: MrX
Time, Call Me Irresponsible boasts more of Bubl?s Un5 AStG
buoyant, modern interpretations of standards from a Ak O-PL
variety of eras, including songs by such greats as Leonard &{q'$oF
Cohen, Eric Clapton, Cy Coleman, Gamble and Huff, and qB`%+<)C
others, as well as two self-penned originals, including v+<4?]EJ
the first single, the uplifting love song called sdgI ,
"Everything." bIV9cpW
Mdu\ci)lr
But it's hardly business as usual for this Vancouver l$W)Vk<B(T
native. It never is for Bubl? whose irrepressible spirit, ?1eu9;q\*
engaging humor, and confident charisma once led the New moMNd(p
York Times to call him "an entertainer who is completely jpMMnEVj6P
at home on the stage." 7+6I~&x!Lz
M}=fdH
Michael BubleHis new CD, which he calls "my remark on the uY3#,
state of love," contains a depth of feeling that will 2Z`Jr/
surprise and delight long-term fans and impress those new "tA.`*
to his music. "To me, what's different about this CD is l)EtK&er(}
that it has a certain raw emotion because I recorded many 4>N ig.#
of these songs live in the studio." Bubl?introduces the : ' pK
electrifying, impeccably orchestrated set to follow with ]/[@.
the opening track, Cy Coleman's "The Best Is Yet To Come," /}CAd
(made famous by Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and others). yK_$d0ZGE~
Then there's the exhilarating, salsa-flavored "It Had kmu7~&75
Better Be Tonight," written by Johnny Mercer and Henry .n?i' 8
Mancini, which Bubl?attacks with a hot-blooded '3E25BsL
vengeance-"another very sexy songand edgy." From there, ?dCJv_w
he takes on "Me and Mrs. Jones," the 1972 Gamble and Huff ~BnmAv$m[
classic popularized by soul singer Billy Paul. "David QG@Z%P~,E
(Foster) brought it to me, I'd never actually heard it lJS3*x#H
before," Bubl?says. "We wanted it to be authentic and m YhDi
tell the story." Next up is Leonard Cohen's "I'm Your Man" %UV"@I+
from the Canadian singer/songwriter's 1988 album of the )}i2x:\|_
same name. "I always thought it was a wonderful song - rDc$#
desperate, sexy, and dark," Bubl?says. "I actually called lr -+|>M)
Leonard and told him I was afraid of performing it live. =65XT^
When he asked me why, I said because he'd written too sexy }me`(zp
of a song and I was afraid men were going to throw their `bd9N !K
underpants at me. He just laughed and said, 'I wouldn't PevT`\>
worry too much about that.'" VZ9`Kbu
vsYbR3O
Then there's a swinging, hep-cat version of Mel Torm?s _m%Ab3iT~
1962 pop hit "Comin' Home Baby," featuring vocals from A\.{(,;kp
Philly soul faves Boys II Men; and a sentimental, x Y}.mP
self-penned ballad "Lost," co-written with Chang and gN<J0c)
Canadian singer-songwriter Jann Arden. "It's an anthem for ZiaFByLy
star-crossed lovers," Bubl?says. "Sometimes relationships ,z+n@sUR:
don't work out because love isn't enough, but that doesn't )E6E}
mean you have to discard the person. There is a way to end ^Q!A4 qOQ
a relationship and still be there when they need you. &u (pBr8B
That's basically what it's about." &nY#G HB
O}6*9Xy
A languid, emotional rendition of Eric Clapton's ballad oS_YQOoD
"Wonderful Tonight," on which Bubl?duets with Brazilian @?t+O'&
singer-songwriter Ivan Lins, whose work has been covered &.Yu%=}
by everyone from Sarah Vaughan to Ella Fitzgerald follows. #X?E#^6?E
"I've always been very sentimental about that song," Bubl? ~ D/1U)kt
says. "What is interesting about that track is here I am, v <| iN#
a 31-year-old guy from Canada who's singing a song that A[:(#iR5-E
means so much to me with a 61-year-old man from Brazil, fvA167\
who's singing in his own language but it means the exact \GGyz{i
same thing to both of us." W!* P
_0Y?(}
Other highlight's include two of Bubl?s original songs, #aKUD
including the acoustic-guitar driven "Everything," S*WLb/R2
co-written with Amy Foster-Gillies and Alan Chang (who x3nUKQtk:8
also co-wrote Bubl?s touching hit ballad "Home" off It's 81)i>]
Time) and produced by fellow Canadian Bob Rock (Bon Jovi, (>*L-&-
Metallica, Motley Crue, Bryan Adams). "I wrote that song gaE8\JSr
about the great happiness of real love, but at the same =}SLQdT
time I was making a statement about the world," Bubl? Hig.` P
says. "We're living in really crazy times, and I wanted to g}*p(Tp9:
say that no matter what's happening, this person in my )k4&S{=
life is what really makes it worthwhile." iN5[x{^t
uME_/S uO
Michael BubleRounding out Call Me Irresponsible is Frank Z07n>|WF-
Sinatra's "That's Life," which, in Bubl?s hands, becomes KJt6d`ZN
a powerhouse complete with a full choir. "I brought the (:}}p}u
song to a wonderful guy named Mervyn Warren, from the xb&,9Lxd|
acappella group Take 6 and said, 'I want to take this to 5BM6Pnle
church; I want to make it a huge gospel tune.' So he q3GkfgY
brought in a choir and I love it. It's one of my favorite J{n A ?[
things about the record." )6px5Vwz
!d95gq<=>
To help him capture the intensity in the songs' meanings, \|Y_,fi
Bubl?turned to his long-standing team of producers, which nu[["f~
include 14-time Grammy winner David Foster (Barbra g5*?2D}dqX
Streisand, Celine Dion, Josh Groban) and producer/engineer w)/~Gn676
Humberto Gatica (Elton John, Destiny's Child, Michael aT BFF
Jackson). "We definitely have a great working relationship NA#,q 8
where I think I interfere just enough," Bubl?says with a ZRFHs>0
laugh. "I mean, David is the greatest producer in the :fnK`RnaQ
world. They're both so amazing, I couldn't do it without 6 8Vxy
them." *mW2vJ/B
&@D\4b,?nm
Foster first discovered Bubl?seven years ago when he " #w%sG^_
caught the aspiring star performing at the wedding of +IlQZwm~
former Canadian Prime Minster's daughter. The son of a gq} c
British Columbia-based salmon and herring fisherman, Bubl? IL"N_ux~w~
spent the months his parents were away with his UM^~a$t
music-loving Italian grandfather, who introduced him to 8<=sUO
the singers who would become Bubl?s idols: Bobby Darin, 0*AXd=)"*
Dean Martin, Sinatra, Ray Charles, and Elvis Presley. 9 {IDw
"These guys were triple threats," he says. "They could R|_._Btu!
sing, they could dance, they could act. They were r,P`$-
entertainers, and I believe that's a lost art now." NT9|``^Z
NGW:hgf
Bubl?honed his skills as a showman through years of bE3mOml
performing in hotel lounges and smoky bars - gigs his gE8>o:6)6:
grandfather, a plumber, helped the underage singer secure Qr?1\H:Lq
by trading his plumbing services. By the time Foster met 8cuI-Swz
him 2000, Bubl?already knew exactly what he brought to X-psao0tI`
the table - a warm, engaging voice and unassailable taste w`gT]Rn
in music. His debut album was an international smash, 1 r3} V7
going Top Ten in the U.K. and Canada, and earning him his $|AasT5w
first Juno award for Best New Talent in 2004. The Xu|2@?l9
follow-up, It's Time, sold more than 5.5 million copies, *dsI>4%m
and has remained on the Billboard Traditional Jazz charts XaMsIyhI
for a staggering two years, and in the Number 1 slot for ;f} ']2
more than 80 weeks, an all-time record. !mUO/6Q hq

But along with his passion for creating great music in the 9xFI%UOb#
studio, performing on stage is pure paradise for Michael t~8H~%T>v
Bubl? "I just love getting in front of people," he says. C3(h j
"It's so important to be in touch with your audience. :Vw{ l B
They've paid their money. I want them to be entertained. 9VSi2p*
If they want to cry or laugh or dance or sing or yell, 'p[B`Ft3F
they can do whatever they want. My responsibility is just r^ABu_u(`I
to take them away." 0: B%,n UM
