Michael had already begun recording some original songs together with another group but wasn´t really happy with the result. So, Johanna became involved in the project as a lyricist and we worked so well together that we decided to continue together, but as a duo. We instantly began working out some new songs and recording demos. 3.

In the beginning, we decided to call ourselves Marmalade Skies, borrowed from the lyrics to the Beatles song "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds". However, the name was allready occupied by several other groups. Instead we named the band Marmalade Souls - a tribute to The Beatles, but also a celebration of the spiritual world - marmalade - yellow and red - where yellow will symbolize the sun or energy and red stands for survival and for love. yjc:+Y{5'

Most of our music, and especially the lyrics, also deal with the spiritual, the soul and with love.that is, love between all souls and individuals, no matter what.To us, love is the very foundations of all happines - and the greatest happines of all is love - or as a very famous British lovepoet once put it: #|)GarDG

Other people have described our music to be timesless popmusic with a sound of the sixties. We would like to add "influenced by old soulmusic and rythm & blues and performed with a lot of close harmonies". A pretty natural choice concidering the fact that this was the music that influenced us the most as we grew up. |>Kf_b Y#
