总统的日子不好过，尤其在面对家务事时，更是如此。片中的总统就深陷家务事中。总统与独生女娜赫玛住在一起，娜赫玛与总统年轻下属马修暗生情愫，而总统却认为马修只是想借自己的力量顺利走上政坛，极力反对这段关系，于是父女交恶。总统的机要秘书纪尧姆认为在面临总统选举之时，此事绝不能曝光，还听说了有人要暗杀总统的消息。国事、家事，每一件事都成了断送总统前程的利刃，使他渐渐失去了理智。
